This place is a bit of a relief from the haus...being connected to the essen haus. Always at least one selection from the local folks (glarus, ale asylum, furthermore, tyranena) and some regionals (bells, great lakes...that is about it). Drinks are priced right. The time to go is saturday and sunday brunch when you can get a decent meal and a draft for a dollar. Watch out for old/skunked bottles.

Lots of wood to look at here, kind of noisy even though the place was just shy of being dead. Decent tap selection but it doesnít compare to other bars in town. I noticed the dirty line taste as well. Nothing great.

I walked down here from the hostel, only a few blocks, and found I couldnít get in the front because Iím a damn tourist and didnít know about the secret real door in the back, which is really the front. So itís a bit of a grotto, with dark lighting, dark brick and wood all around and a collection of brewania lining the brick walls. Wooden tables let you settle in for a night of drinking, giant mugs of discounted happy hour beer definitely helps the situation. We ended up drinking Ale Asylum stout and Great Lakes Porter from these giant dimpled mugs. The crowd seemed mostly college aged, but there were a couple of more aged beer travelers drinking that night, including a fellow with a Toronado shirt that I had to comment on. Overall a good place to drink and have a good time, for certain.

Two words - dirty lines!! I hardly ever go there just for that reason. Great selection, but why o why canít they realize that you have to sanitize and rotate out old kegs when you have that kind of selection.

Was here on a Friday night and it was fairly dead, something that couldnít be said for the raucousness of Essenhaus next door. Nevertheless, from what I could tell, the beer selection is far superior at Come Back In, so thatís where I went. They have an interesting selection; clearly they care about offering good beers. They had Alpha King, just ran out of DFH 60 minute, and had a few other interesting brews. Their bottle selection is more impressive. I ordered a Great Divide Ridgeline Amber on tap and it tasted like it was from dirty lines. Gotta like the fact that they offer free salted in the shell peanuts and popcorn. I like the place and will definitely be back.

26 tap beers plus tons of bottled beers make this a great place to find what you are looking for.

Slightly quiter than the Essen Haus (mainly due to no polka band). Beer selection, bottle and tap, is good. If you visit Madison and have some time to explore, the Essen Haus/Come Back are worth the trip.

Next door to the Essen Haus...this is a very open albeit crowded bar with a wide array of patrons from college students to families. An excellent tap selection of local WI micros, US micros, and popular foreign beers with an additional 200+ bottled beers in two separate coolers on either end of the bar. Large wrap around bar allows for plenty of room to sneak in for a drink as well as long beer hall type tables for large groups. A great atmosphere, excellent beer selection, and eclectic crowd make for a fun evening of people watching and beer drinking.
