This place is great, small, dark and friendly. The selection is small but every time Iíve been theyíve had great drafts, Hopslam, Cask Hop Devil are two that come to mind. While I like places like Capital Ale House as well and there huge selection, this would be my regular choice if I lived in the area.

My favorite place to drink in my town. Small; dark; grungy; local and AWESOME. Great beer choices; the BEST tapped beer in RVA or most anywhere I have beer in east coast. Food is slightly above average bar fare. No TVS; funky not too loud music. Do your self a favor and arrive at 4:45 and see if Sean or James is tapping the brews. Sit at the bar or the back table; relax and people watch. Canít be beat.

I was the only one in the place on a Saturday night (Easter weekend) at 7:30, which made me a bit nervous. But the place filled up within 10 minutes, and Both the locals and the staff made me feel right at home. Tap list is very solid, bottle list is amll but well chosen. Sean is everything you would ever want in a bartender - friednly, attentive, great suggestions, impressive beer and systems knowledge, an absolute pleasure. A must-stop on any beer tour of Richmond.

Commercial Taphouse is a neighborhood place with its very own vibe which it sticks to. Canít remember ever having a service problem. Foodís always decent. Prices decent- especially for the larger size beer servings. I think I need to come here more often.

I love this place. Small, quiet, cozy. You can sit at a table with your best friends and actually have a conversation while drinking some of the best beer you can find on tap in the city. People remember your name, they remember your drink. This is my ideal bar environment. The cheese fries are to die for.

I had never been to Richmond before. I was in town for a Photoshop seminar and did my research beforehand on Ratebeer. Myself and a few friends went to the Capital Alehouse (downtown) the night before and were not impressed, so we decided to give this place a try. We were all glad we did! Itís a pretty small joint in a funky little neighborhood that feels very collegiate. The beer was good and so was the food. The biggest chicken quesadilla Iíve seen in a while...and that was just an appetizer. They had some local stuff on tap from Blue Ridge and Star Hill and some Terrapin too. We canít get Terrapin in Maryland....ironically, so I tried the Hopsecutioner. It was delicious! The tap handle said Big Hoppy Monster, but the chalk board said Hopsecutioner. I called the next day to confirm, and they said Hopsecutioner. It tasted like the Big Hoppy Monster to me though. it was big and DELICIOUS! One of the few beers that Iíve had that I actually preferred on tap instead of bottled. Anyways, cool spot thatís worth checking out. P.S.: They had Victory Hop Devil on cask! Thatís one of my favorites, and it was delicious.
