Nice place in an area of Oakland that I donít spend a lot of time in honestly. I showed up for brunch around 11am, and there was only one other person in the place. I got a beer and an egg/sausage sandwich. The food was excellent, although a bit fancier than Iím used to for an egg sandwich. The beer list was pretty good with about 12 taps, most of them locals. Nothing really amazing, just solid. The ambiance of the place reminded me of a smaller Monks Kettle. Yes, even smaller than that place. It didnít bother me though since it was empty when I was there. The service was pleasant and respectable. I can see this place getting all hipstered out in the evening, but it seems like a place that would be nice to get a meal and a couple beers with friends

The hours are wrong. This place does not open at 9am. Luckily I arrived around 11 but I could see someone being upset by being misled if they showed up for brunch at 9am and were turned away. They focus on local taps which is nice. They seem to dedicate a tap to a brewery rather than a beer. There is a tap for Oakland Brewing, Line 51, Linden Street, Faction, Moonlight, and Highwater. Even the cask selection is mostly from the bay area. If you get lost in the tap selection as I did you might forget that this is supposed to be an English bar which should drop the score a few points as they have usually have the same tired tap selection and the same decorations on the wall. This is a bit more open and well lit than most places that claim to be British in style. They also do trivia nights and have an interesting food selection, which I didnít try. Of course they have shepherds pie, battered fish, and the other usual crap, but they also have grapefruit fennel salad, smoked trout salad with asparagus, and a scrambled egg sandwich. Iíll be eating here next time in addition to drinking some local ticks.

Small little pub with about a dozen beers on tap. A little bar to sit at and a handful of tables as well. They do flights and seem to always have a cask beer on. Service at the bar was quite good. Was expecting more of a British themed beer selection, but it was pretty much all beers from the Bay Area, including a bunch of stuff from Oakland. There were a lot of people just kind of hanging out and enjoying the place during the afternoon. Would definitely come back.

Nice dark pub/cafe. Good small food menu. 12-15 taps, half solid British beers and nice selection of local craft beer. The service is nice as well.

A nice little pub with an English feel to it. Knowledgeable wait staff. Concise tap selection divided in to locals and European beers (most of the European beers are of the English brewing tradition). They are also a coffee bar, but I did not try that. Prices were reasonable. Street parking. Food menu was small but pretty tasty. Beer engine coming soon. Bottles seemed to be exclusively British or Scottish. Not a bad stop. Very relaxed atmosphere.
