Kudos to Derrick Morse (brewmaster), particularly for the Yeasty Nasty and Hop Brutality, both of which can stand proudly in any company. This is a comfortable place to spend an evening, with a knowledgeable crowd, good live entertainment, friendly staff, and a brewmaster who spends time with customers talking about beer. It is tough to put a number on selection - there is good variety, but as far as I could see, only Cool Springs brerws are available. This place is worth a stop.

Solid food, although they aren’t sure what they want to be...pub food, italian, fancy...food is good, but need identity. But this is about the beer. And the beer here is by far the most interesting and best being produced commercially in the region...bar none. Worth the trip for beer alone.

(Visited 05/2012): Cool Springs brewpub is located in a strip mall on Frazier Drive on the northeast side of Franklin, near I-65. The plaza has a pretty good-sized parking lot.

The interior has kind of a modern look, with brick and purple paint. Several TVs including a couple really big ones, lending to kind of a sports bar feel. Snarky beer signs too. The bar is past the growler stand (more on that in a minute) and there is table seating in the rest of the space.

Cool Springs has 6 of their beers on tap, including a Saison, APA, Kölsch and Coconut Porter on our visit. The beers are all decent, with the Coconut Porter being the standout. They also offer a sampler.

Service on a slow evening was pretty good. The bartender knew the beers and was happy to fill growlers. However due to whatever bizarre TN law we were not allowed to take the growler from the bar, we had to walk back to the front of the brewpub and pick it up from a special "growler window". It was not a hassle or anything, just silly considering the bartender still just handed it to us, same as if she would have done at the bar.

We did not try any food on this visit.

All in all I would definitely recommend checking this place out in Franklin.

Nice beer selection, good food, staff friendly and helpful. Pretty good lunch buffet. Nice cozy bar with a wide open dining area down stairs and extra seating upstairs. A little hard to find if you’ve never been before.

Very friendly staff with great pizza (I’ve only tried the Venetian, but I was happy). There was a great variety of beers some, particularly the IPA and APA. The eating area has close proximity to the brewing area which is great if you don’t mind some faint hints of smell of the brewing process going on. I would stop by here if you’re in town.

Went in to try their beer. I was surprised by the beer, I enjoyed all of them. The bar had 5 huge TV’s and an overall nice atmosphere. I will be going back.

The best happy hour in town. 2.75 for their draft beers and cheaper bottles for people who dont drink craft beer. I have been coming here for years. Great place to go and let rush hour die out. Everyone that comes here is extremley friendly. I have met many out of towners that always come back when they are in town. New menu coming out soon. Come try it out if you are passing through Franklin. Jackhammer and the dark beers are the best.

I am totally krushing on this Coconut Porter that i picked up via Growler. they filled my own and I did not have to buy their labeled growler, which is a plus. i didn’t order any food, but the menu looked pretty nice.

Great food, and very good beers. Nice people as well. On slow days, the owner/brewmaster is happy to discuss the beers in depth with you if that’s your thing. Great to have them in Franklin.
