62 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 ads135 (90) Lawrence, Kansas | July 12, 2012 Not a bad liquor store with a steadily improving selection of microbrews. Not mug in the way of ambiance or service, but as lo as there are good beers, who cares. Mix and match six packs available. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 11/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | July 3, 2012| Updated July 4, 2012 Half the size of the South location, but decent enough stuff. I didn’t see any bombers. Good prices. Singles wre organized by brewery! Yay! | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 jandd1983 (122) Florissant, Missouri | February 6, 2012| Updated July 4, 2012 Went after going to Free State for lunch. A decent selection, nothing worth returning for. Was surprised there were not a lot of local brews available. Picked up a couple of items and thought the prices were fairly good. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 SudsMcDuff (174) .....Manchester United.........., Texas | July 15, 2011| Updated July 4, 2012 First bottleshop stop of my KC beer trip, had tohit Lawrence for the 2 brewpubs and some Kansas brews. Decent sized store, the beer gets a good look. Nice selection of locals, decent singles section. Prices are pretty good, got ola dubh 40 for under 20 and a couple of other special brews. A better than average beer stop. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 hopsessed (10) Kansas | August 14, 2010| Updated July 4, 2012 This store is relatively large for this town, and the selection is reflected in that size. Recently started doing a byo 6pk shelf. Have ALOT of cold beers. And for some reason or another, this place ends up a place for great beers to be stashed and forgotten about until I show up and Indiana Jones them out of the cooler. They always have at least two bombers of some awesome anniversary from 2 years ago, or some find to that degree. Despite the cheap linoleum flooring and the out of date look, the store is pretty nice. As is the awesome manager, Larry Johnson. He can grow a mean ’stache. Worth checking out. | 60 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 topherh (23) Kearney, Missouri | August 9, 2010| Updated July 4, 2012 Decent selection of what is available in Kansas including the Free State and Tallgrass selections. Typical bottle store feel. | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 beastiefan2k (152) Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | January 12, 2009| Updated July 4, 2012 There are 2 locations of this store, the other one is better (on 23rd and Iowa). Both carry a lot of stuff so they get a sligtly better deal, so you may save a 50 cents on a sixer or a buck of a large bottle. They are allocated more of the rare stuff and also once in a while sell a sixer at the end of the season for a whole lot less. But a bit too much of a commercial feel to it. And again, the wont have anything the other good beer stores in town have, they just may have more or a penny less. | 64 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 theisti (352) Leawood, Kansas | January 6, 2009| Updated June 28, 2012 This is a decent sized liquor store with a good selection of domestic micros, OK selection of Belgians and not too much else. Nice displayers of 40’s near the front door. No service to speak of, though I didnt seek any out. This had a bit more than Jensen, but not as much more as i would have expected given the size differences. Not even a block from Jensen’s, if you are going to hit one, i would recommend hitting both. | 68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 bearlybrewed (19) Colorado | September 15, 2008| Updated June 28, 2012 Pretty good selection and staff always willing to discuss products. Can be a little stackey with mass produced stuff, however, they do have a nice selection of micros. | 74 AMBIANCE 1/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 midesti (2) , Wyoming | September 2, 2008| Updated June 28, 2012 Good selection overall, definitely greek-staffed with sports on the overhead television, no mixed 6-packs... If you want a uniquely Lawrence beer shop, check out Jensen’s just across the street. |
