82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 shrubber85 (176) Greenville, Indiana | May 24, 2013 Downtown Indianapolis - limited street parking but there’s a parking garage right around the corner on Ohio. Nice selection of local, Belgian, and Mikkeller beers and decent German selection. A good stop to combine with trips to Sun King and Flat 12 (which are just a short trip east on Ohio). | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (316) Cincinnati, Ohio | February 24, 2013 Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Looked for Three Floyds; they had 3 six pack choices (Alpha King, Pride & Joy, and Robert the Bruce) and 2 bombers, Behemoth and Arctic Panzer Wolf. Prices are high here. They’re aggressive about carding even if you aren’t buying anything (we had a large group and only a few made purchases) but otherwise very helpful. Good selection of Shoreline but prices were outrageous on those. Lots of other good local and regional labels. Very good selection for a limited amount of space. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Dogbrick (567) Columbus, Ohio | January 9, 2013 (Visited 02/2012 and a couple times since): Crown Liquors’ downtown location is in a historic building at the intersection of Ohio and Delaware. There is metered street parking in front of the store and in the surrounding blocks.
The interior has a ground level floor and a downstairs section devoted to wine. The beer section is all along the rear of the store (depending on which entrance you use) in coolers along the wall and shelves opposite.
Crown stocks hundreds of beers at this location, and has the best selection of the chain that I have visited. Many Indiana and regional craft breweries are represented like Three Floyds, Upland, Mad Anthony and Sun King are in stock, as are other domestic craft breweries like New Belgium, Stone, Anchorage and Tyranena. Lots of imports too from Mikkeller (including pretty much the whole Single Hop line) and others. Lots of singles as well.
Service has been consistently good on my visits. The staff knows the beer and are always friendly. They also offer discounts on case purchases.
Overall this is one of my favorite shops to visit when in Indianapolis, downtown or otherwise. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 midwestbeerguy (28) Ohio | November 17, 2012 An OK place to stop if you’re in downtown Indy. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 jrallen34 (271) Chicago, Illinois | November 7, 2012 decent selection, nice and knowledgable service, selection is pretty decent but nothing outside of the norm except carrying Sun King which most Indy places do. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 Advocate_Ames (27) Pennsylvania | October 3, 2012 A great stop. The associate working helped out a lot. There were a few gems there, one I even passed up. Yeah I am still kicking myself for that. This store was a descent check in. I would go back if I am in the area. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 b3shine (180) Cincinnati, Ohio | September 6, 2012 Nice bottle shop/party store right downtown. Selection is quite extensive, but being right downtown, I haven’t seen anything uber-rare on the shelves (probably due to it’s high-traffic location). Still, definitely worth a stop. | 86 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 fletchfighters (41) , Australia | September 2, 2012 went in while visiting Indy. Glad I did
A-- Standard bottle shop. Beers to the left and in window and wines downstairs.
Q-- Easily organized and easy to find stuff. Some bombers in coolers and some on shelves. Pretty deep selection but more on that later.
S-- Excellent. Very helpful as I was looking for an Upland Sour and got one. Was offered a KBS and Devil Dancer as well. Just took the DD as wanted to try it. Very helpful staff and answered my questions very well.
S-- Impressive. big selection of sours from NB, limited DFH, Heavy Seas, FFF, Shoreline BA beers, Chicago area and good selection of Indiana beers. Even some Dark Horse I have not seen.
V-- Came and went with specific beers in mind and got them all and did not break an arm or leg to get them. Very helpful and informative staff. Highly suggest if in the CBD of Indy.
| 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 TheBrewSherpa (47) Belvidere, New Jersey | July 16, 2012 After checking the ratings on this place, I was ULTRA fired-up to visit and snatch up a bevy of regional brews. While the selection was good, it wasn’t erection-inducing. Picked up a 6er for the hotel and some bombers to take home and cellar. Worth the visit, but not the ultra high ratings. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 NobleSquirrel (200) Chicago, Illinois | July 9, 2012 I found this location vastly overrated. Expected that they would have a better local selection but was lacking. Expected a broader selection for the ratings it has here. Sure, they have some vintage bottles and some neat stuff, but not that I can’t find anywhere else. Also, don’t understand how this is any better than the places down the street. Okay to hit up but not really a destination, imo. |
