These guys know how to brew and their shop is purely functional. Curb appeal for CCHBS blows. The inside isnít much better but at the end of the day they have everything you need and itís clean. If they donít have what youíre looking for, theyíll order it for you. The guys that run the shop are very knowledgeable but they have no problem pointing out a stupid question when they see it - donít take it personally.

Very Good LHBS, good selection of everything youíll need to brew almost any beer youíd like. The guyís running the shop are really knowledgeable about brewing beer. 3rd Thursday of each month, Pacific Gravity has their monthly meeting at CCHBS at 7pm around back of the shop in the parking lot, lots of friendly home brewers and some great home brews to sample. i went by the Home Wine, Beer & Cheese making Shop on Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills last year, no parking i had to walk a few blocks, inside the shop was 100+F. i looked around and left fast so i could get back in my car and put the A/C on.

Canít believe this place wasnít added a long time ago. When in LA this is my LHBS (although I prefer the Brueryís now defunct Provisions, but that was quite the drive). They have a good grain selection, allow you to measure out all your hops, and have plenty of kegging equipment. They also have all the books you would need and they grow some hops out back. What I donít like is sometimes their hop selection is odd (no Simcoe pellets the last time, but plenty of Simcoe plugs and whole leaf). Very random. They also donít have ANY plastic carboys...none, only glass. While glass is good for long fermentations, I greatly prefer plastic, as the mouth openings are bigger, they are lighter, and I am not going to break them all over the floor and my self with glass shards flying everywhere. Anyway, despite some limitations, these guys know there stuff. A bit pricey too, but I have yet to find a close alternative.
