68 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 mikehanneman (13) Iowa | August 5, 2010 Great micro brewed IPA here. Lots of flavor. Small but worth the effort. | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 10/20 thorine (11) Indiana | August 3, 2010 I was quite looking forward to my first trip to Cumberland Brews. I’d heard of the place for a long time, but had never been. I was, in particular, looking to try their Nitro Porter (and I’d also heard very complimentary things regarding their food). Overall, I was rather disappointed. The food was a type of spring roll (stuffed with veal or lamb... it’s been a few months) served with a cucumber sauce. The sauce was excellent,... the rolls were better than average. Nonetheless, I continue to hear good things about the food, so I will give the benefit of the doubt with my 7/10 rating. The service was prompt, knowledgeable, and kind. It was a little cramped, but that didn’t bother me too much. However, the beer... that really let me down. The Nitro Porter certainly wasn’t bad, but in the end it was not what I’d anticipated. Left me wanting more. I tried the Brussels Bruge, and that was just bad. The body behind the beer seemed very solid, but there was this pervasive umami taste in the beer, reminiscent of dirt. I like a little mustiness in some beers, but this was just off. It seemed like a nice place, and I hope to give them another shot, but as it stands, I have to stick with this rather low score. | 58 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 13/20 cranked (19) Kentucky | July 23, 2010 Located right on Bardstown Road in the Highlands, getting a table on the sidewalk would be key to enjoying the place. Beyond that it’s a bit stuffy. Upstairs is great but rarely open and when open is generally full, maybe it’s because downstairs is so cramped.
Their beer used to be really good before their old brewer left. Now the beer is reminiscent of water and line infection.
Food and service are good, about run of the mill for most brewpubs. Overall, if it were less cramp and the beer was a lot better, I’d come back more often. But, as it sits, I make my trips sparingly. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Squall611 (2) Kentucky | July 18, 2010 Very small, cramped place. Great Beer and good food though. Service is great and friendly. | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 Odde (19) Tampa, Florida | July 3, 2010 somewhat small establishment with good service and decent beer. all of their offerings were written on a chalk board along with the abv, og, ibus. having the style on there too would’ve been cool. some decent beers and some with off flavor problems. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 20/20 JonHoward (10) Louisville, Kentucky | June 15, 2010 Amazing microbrew selections which rotate biweekly. Their Bison burgers, for the price, are I believe the best in the city! Very friendly servers.
Some things to checkout: Thursdays special cask-conditioned ales which rotate weekly & daily quesadilla specials along with daily appetizer specials.

Food is tasty and offers a standard selection. Friendly service but always prompt.
