I had a look around Maineís oldest microbrewery while checking out the areaís other newer breweries. The brewery is old school and it was cool to see the large open fermenters in use here. Tasting flights can be purchased in the front room and the beers are English styles, so donít expect any wacky new world offerings. Friendly and chatty team and enjoyed the impromptu tour.

Really fun brewery tour. Its down to earth and personal. You can taste beer right out of the lagering tuns to see how aging affects taste. There is not gift shop per se so purchasing on site is tricky. Best to offer the brewers a pint at the Great Lost Bear after their shift is over. Close to Allagash so you can hit a twofer if you plan well. Both have limited slots for tours so check in advance.
