One of the highlights of a two-week road trip. Great people on both sides of the bar... down-to-earth and super friendly. Brewer Trent even gave me a quick tour of the brewhouse (thanks, man). I thought the atmosphere was just terrific, but it probably wouldnít appeal to the mainstream. Itís kinda like if Satan built a diner/beer garden. My wife and I both loved our visit and weíre looking forward to next time as long as we can find someplace close to stay the night. I hear thereís a B&B within walking distance...

Two visits, summer 2004 and just before Christmas 2006. Surprised I forgot to rate this before but oh well. Really cool, comfortable ambiance, something between a small traditional midwestern tavern and a hippie haven; lots of anti-Bush propaganda around; something about that and the size and friendliness of the place makes it feel like a mirror-image of Calumet in Chilton WI. But I digress. Terrific, simple food (pizzas and sanwiches) mostly solid to very good beer, unfiltered and very natural, busy, cluttered look to the place that makes it seem even smaller, and just great super-friendly service. Everyone in the place when I visited yesterday but me was a local, but the bartender made me feel like I belonged. Cheap, too. Probably not the very best beer in Michigan (and my one complaint is that on neither visit Iíve made was the selection really exciting) but definitely one of the must-visit places.

Nice place to visit. Not too fqar out of the Detroit area, that you couldnít make an evening out of it. Pretty good food, pizzaís, bar type stuff. Good beer. Not a huge selection of beers, but enough to keep you occupied. Will come back for sure.

We stopped at the Dark Horse on our way to our main stop at Bellís in Kalamazoo. Not much in the ambience area but we were there for the beer, the service was prompt and friendly enough. Selection was average I would say with bottled items to choose from as well. Most of the beers we tried were all well made but only a couple really stood out, notably their staple IPA. If you happen to be in the area or live nearby stop in, otherwise I would say itís not worth a very long drive.

very friendly local microbrewery that i could see myself making regular trips there if i lived in the area. friendly wait staff and a very downhome feeling in the bar. When i was there, they didnít have anything speical on tap other than the great special black bier, which was fantastic. I was hoping for some of the stouts, but i guess i will have to wait till winter time.

Brewpub is nothing more than a double wide trailer that connects to the brewery. Good service, even though there is usually 1-2 people working, so you occasionally have to wait. Limited menu, but great pizza. I get one every time I go. Almost always something on tap that is a one time only/no bottles/no growler release. This is my favorite brewpub and I make sure I go every time Iím in town.

Right off the highway. Small place, almost like a shack. Lots of character. Has a coin OP poo table. The ceiling is full of mugs that belong to the locals that drink there. Had about 5-6 taps of their stuff. Only was able to try a couple of brews, but they were good, though not amazing. A cool place, worth a stop if you are near by, but probably not worth a really long drive. Also has a mediocre bottle shop right next door.

Easy to locate and plenty of parking. Service was freindly and she let me order samples of the seven brews on tap. Very good brews and interseting pub. Sunday hours now and the place started to fill as the football games started. Well worth the visit and nice package store directly next door.
