Was there at Christmas time. Best overall beer selection we found in Manhattan/Brooklyn. I canít believe I was able to order a Westy 12 ($12), Bourbon County Stout ($9), countless South Hamptons and other great regionals, for such decent prices. These are truly hard beers to get, period, especially for those of us on the West Coast. I thought their place in New Orleans was great, but this takes the cake. Loved the bar cat roaming around. An absolute must-visit. Serves very very late. Come and be spoiled.

This used to be one of my favorite craftbeer bars in the city (BTAH came first & remains first on "my" list of the older craftbeer establishments). I always liked the chalk board with many selections, the simple wood look of the place, and especially the courtyard out back. Nonetheless, the quality has gone down some of late...as a number of the other reviewers have noted. It seems the availability of the advertised selections has tailed off some too...and thatís a shame since it was always one of their high points. I still recommend dbaís if in the area...but hope their original quality comes back before itís too late.

Empty on a Monday Night. A more english selection/styles of beers but 16 taps and a lot of options in bottles. mellow no frills. Patio is really nice though

Visited on a Friday evening. Decent size bar, with a bunch of tables and plenty space to stand around. Good, friendly crowd. 16 or so taps of well selected, though certainly not mind-blowing selection. Service was prompt, and friendly. Place had a good vibe, and was a nice place to grab a couple pints.

Visisted many a time over the last 8 or so years - most recently in March í11. Iíve always come here late on a Friday or Saturday as I know it will be open and as such it is usually pretty busy. Selection is OK but nothing mind blowing. Look out for tap clearances where they usually offer one or two lines at half price to get rid of it. Service is hit and miss, sometimes seemingly not enough staff to cope, other times they favour regulars and youíll be left standing a while. Iíve seen free soup in a hot pot available here before, to the left of the bar. Toilets are legendary !!! One of Manhattans first craft beer venues, it probably hasnít kept up with the times in terms of selection and decor (see toilets) but I often pop back there when Iím in town.

I like it as a bar. large indoors with a good patio. Itís not trying too hard in a city that often tries too hard. Plus they have a really respectable beer list by most standards...but the rub with both d.b.aís is that if you donít have 3 back-ups to your bottle choice you may have to go back to the board. The bar tenders more often than not canít find what I ask for. Itís an easy place to go with non beer nerd friends so you donít get too geeky but are happy with what you have to drink. Itís a classic for beer in NYC. So respect is deserved.

This is a very solid beer bar that is a little too small unless the outside is open. I actually try to only visit when I can enjoy a beer out in the back area. Otherwise, it just isnít that exciting. Their selection is quite solid, but not on the level of the top tier beer bars in the Manhattan. My score is for outside relaxation and enjoying solid beers, more than it is for the great selection or the inside of the bar.
Recommended as a relaxing place to grab a beer outside in the afternoon or early evening (I believe the porch closes at 10?)

Great beer selection but we were there on a Saturday night which is never the best time to experience a good beer bar.

The warm glow of memory is boosting my rating beyond what it would be based solely on recent visits. Hard not to agree that itís slid several notches in recent years, but equally hard not to acknowledge one of the old guard craft beer joints in this neck of the woods. While itís no longer common to find as many local specialties and rarities as was once the case (waaay back in my pre-RB days), itís still got a more than happy selection of locals and imports, including the always delightful cask offerings. Always enjoy the atmosphere, though, and Iíve never had bad service.

This place has gone downhill in the past year or two I think. Great selection on their boards, but theyíre always out of most things. Last time I went I asked what lambics they had in stock (they list almost 20 from Cantillon, 3 Font., Boon, etc.) and first the guy had no idea and was annoyed I was asking. Then finally he sent someone to check, took 20 minutes to find out they had none. Zero out of twenty is just ridiculous. So ya, still a good place selection-wise, but the service stinks and most of the best stuff on the menu seems to be out of stock, maybe permanently.
