We visited on a Saturday afternoon after leaving the "cattle call" at the obnoxious Brooklyn Brewery. It was a pleasant atmosphere, especially in contrast to BB. The old-time, typical blue collar style bar atmosphere is quite nice. They have a good sized bar and outdoor seating available in the back. The standard chalk board draft selection contained about 10 high quality beers. The variety was good but the selection was not extraordinary. We ordered, Arrogant Bastard, Founders Centennial, and an IPA pumped from the cask. All were fresh, tapped late last month according to the dates posted on the board. The scotch, tequila and bourbon selection was extraordinary but we didnít imbibe. We ordered a pretzel (the only thing on the menu) and it was hot, fresh, served with mustard and salt. Good enough. The service was good but it wasnít crowded. I would go there again, but with so many beer bars to choose from in the NYC area, probably wonít.

Iíve been several times while enjoying the sights and sounds of NYC. It can get a little crowded if youíre here during peak hours. Service has always been prompt and polite. There are a variety of drafts from which to choose, as well as a really nice selection of single malt scotches and tequilas. No food available, but you can bring in your own (there are pizza and Mexican restaurants on the same street). The outdoor seating in the back is especially pleasant. Definitely worth a visit if youíre in the area.

Visited with fellow RateBeerian on 5th July 2013. Spacious rectangular bar affording plenty of at-the-bar seating. Friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere although pub was emptyish for a Friday night on account of regulars being away for extended Independence Day celebrations. I enjoyed Anchor Liberty ale amongst others from a fair range. I enjoyed the "Poboy catfish sliders" from an imaginative food menu prepared in the backyard of the pub. It was nice of the chef to come over to us and chat about their recipes, lovely touch. A good spot, I would happily return.

Brooklyn DBA is the upmarket brother of the Bowery one - expect toilets with a seat !!! Decent selection on tap - largely east coast micros and a few others. 2 cask lines - maintained by Alex Hall so always in great nick, had one of his Wandering Star beers (Dark Mild) there on my last visit (March í11). Good vibe and friendly service - have visited by lunchtime (fairly quiet) and on a Saturday night when packed full. Single room, wooden floors, courtyard at the rear.

Conveniently located near the Bedford subway station. Cosy pub, small-medium size, sits about 100 but with a lot of standing space because the tables are spread out. Nice patio in the back. They had 16 taps + 3 casks when I was there. Focus on NY craftbeers and east-coast in general with some classics and some interesting finds (small batches, one-offs, etc.). Defiants, Sly Fox, etcÖ Many beers I had never seen before. I had Defiant Oatmeal Stout on cask. The place felts more like friendly neighbourhood bar than the more trendy hipster hangout d.b.a. Manhattan location. I will go back there.

Great selection, especially European beers. Beautifully uncrowded patio on a Friday evening. Sweet, helpful bartender. Reasonable prices a touch on the high side.

I like it as a bar. large indoors with a good patio. Itís not trying to hard in a neighborhood that often tries to hard. Plus they have a really respectable beer list by most standards...but the rub with both d.b.aís is that if you donít have 3 back-ups to your bottle choice you may have to go back to the board. The bar tenders more often than not canít find what I ask for. Itís an easy place to go with non beer nerd friends so you donít get too geeky but are happy with what you have to drink.

Swung in here last weekend while taking a friend from out-of-town to see Williamsburg. It is a very solid place. Quite similar to the Manhattan version. The draft list was decent, nothing rare, but a nice broad spectrum. Rather empty at our time of visiting (right after dinner on a Saturday night). It wasnít the right weather, but it looked like they had a nice patio here as well, which is generally my favorite part of the Manhattan version. Iíd revisit, but only if in the area, itís certainly not a destination establishment.
