I had a great experience here and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who wants a good meal. The first thing that struck me, as my wife and I entered the premices tonight was peanut shells cracking under my feet. The floor was littered with it. This is from peanut piles offered on every table. A gimmick, for sure. The second gimmick is the tables that have their own taps. I liked that. Quick and friendly service. Their special is the BBQ chicken. We both had that and absolutely loved the dish. They marinate it in beer and olive oil for 24 hours, then grill it over charcoal. Succulent and delicious. The house beers are OK, not top notch, but both the Nero and the Rosso work well with the chicken. Good value.

Had passed up on this place in the past as reports had not been too good. So, it was time to grasp the nettle. It’s a big place with a modern, industrial feel and was quite sparsely populated when we visited early evening. I get the distinct impression this would be more of a party place at busier times. The best I could say about the beers is that they were mediocre - and it turned out that one of them was brewed at Alfa, not in-house. The brewpub aspect seemed more of a gimmicky afterthought than a serious endeavour. Doubt I’ll be back unless there is a new beer to tick.

I’d heard poor reports of this place but it had to be tried! Actually, I quite liked it. It’s different, if nothing else. Just down from Dam Square, De Bierfabriek is in a 1913 building which has been stripped out inside so it has a very functional feel with lots of concrete in evidence. The steel brew kit is in the window and there’s a copper kit inside at the back. In addition to a tea light, every table has a clutch of peanuts and, in mediterranean style, it seems to be de rigeur to chuck the shells on the floor. The tables at the front also have their own personal taps so you can serve yourself, which is a novel idea. The kitchen is in the middle. It has an open barbeque, apparently fuelled by real coal of the type that used to be used in people’s hearths at home. It was sparking away to cook dozens of small chickens on long double skewers. I’m sorry we didn’t eat there because the beer-marinated chickens are their speciality. They brew three beers on the premises and this may be the best use for them as they weren’t anything to write home about. However, the service was friendly and enthusiastic.

Visited september 2013. Placed close to the citycenter easy to walk to. Was rather quiet this sunday late afternoon. Rather large, but yet cosy brewpub, with the kitchen and the brewing plants visible. We had 3 of their beers and a small bar snack. They do food as well, but it was a bit to early for us to eat.. Staff was friendly and serviceminded..

Visited September 2012.
This was actually the first stop of the day but it was closed when we first walked by. So instead we did some site seeing and bar hopping before returning in the evening. I’m torn on this place. On one hand the people were all having a good time and I could have as well if the beers weren’t so awful. The loud music and peanut shells all over the floor I can deal with but the beer… never again. I couldn’t understand how people were ordering (and drinking) those towers of beer with a tap at the bottom. I almost forgot about the giant sack of peanuts that people just reach into at will. That could be both a good and a bad thing. Prices were fairly high. Service was decent.

Ducked in here for a quick beer. Saw the brewing equipment in the front window so I was intrigued. Brewing equipment all over inside with a bar and restaurant area and peanut shells all over the floor. Service was just ok, it wasn’t very busy but the servers acted like it was. Tried their house beers and they were just ok. Not a place I’d go to again but it wasn’t that bad.

Oh, well. Went there for the beers, but they really wasn’t worthwhile. Very crowded, but we still managed to get a table without reservation on a Saturday night. Food is average. Go there for the ticks. Nothing more. Nothing less.

One of the worst brewpubs I’ve been to. Much more of a night club kind of feel. Just crap beers on tap, halfway decent service, not terribly good prices. They do have free peanuts, though.
