Visited a couple of weeks ago. More like a restaurant serving their own beers. You can get a table with a tap on it and serve yourself. Only three beers available from the tap, their own of course. Bags of peanuts everywhere where you can get as much as you want and throw the shells on the floor. Decent prices, friendly service. Had a tourists place on it, something to go to once and take some photos and that’s it.
Rather large bar/restaurant at Rokin with minimalistic interior. Mixed but overall rather young audience, relaxed atmosphere. Beer selection is restricted to their own, three on tap plus a few bottles occasionally, nothing spectacular but solid. You can have your own tap at your table if you want. Decent prices for the tap beers, the bottles can be expensive, especially because some of them are those expensive ceramic ones. Service is okay, English is welcome since part of the staff doesn’t speak Dutch.
Very crowded and busy when I visited but the beers were quite enjoyable, especially the Nero. I got the impression that this place has a brewery as an afterthought and that most of the clientele were there for the atmosphere and because of the location, rather than going because it is a brewpub.
2 bars at each end of the building. Lots of seating. Most of the tables have a 2 tap system to pour your own. The food smelt good but I didn’t eat. 3 beers on tap, none of them were very good. The servers didn’t seem to care much about anybody just having beer. The good: 3 samplers were $2.50.
The Bierfabriek is a nice place to hang out with a large group of friends to drink the day away and to enjoy a nice meal with loads of beautifully grilled, crispy, tasty chicken and fries. However, in terms of beer we do not have to expect much of it. The system with the own beer taps is quite a nice novelty and has its own charms, but the a beers are quite mediocre pilseners, so do not expect it to be a true feast for the connaiseur. If you just want to enjoy a nice evening with loads of okayish beer, good chicken and peanuts shattered all around the floor, this is quite a nice, cozy place to visit. It’s in the city centre, so after you meal you can easily walk to places like Gollem and Het Arendnest for a small ’connaiseur brew’.
