Visited this place recently in Utrecht and had a great time. Excellent selection of Dutch micro brews on tap as well as in bottles. The owners are a husband and wife extremely knowledgeable both of beer in general and the local brewing community. They’ll give some great recommendations if you’re open to trying out a few things.

Tiny brown cafe, with the best selection in town in my opinion. Lots of stuff from local Utrecht micros, but also from established quality brewers like De Molen and Emelisse. International and barrel aged stuff is too pricey. The vibe is very mellow and low energy, great if you just want to catch up with someone. Been there many times, but can’t recall if they play any music... Staff is knowledgeable but not too friendly. Have had a couple of unpleasant experiences with the female owner being way too blunt and control freakish...Once she even refused us entrance because there were only 4 seats left at the bar, and we were with 5 in total... So beware of the infamous ’Dutch hospitality’... Would have rated higher otherwise.

A small, very charming and cozy bar. Knowledgeable and very friendly owner. Good selection of local/Dutch beers. Some interesting EU breweries available as well. Prices fair. Recommended!

Great place with great service and great beers. The bartenders know their beers and they are incredibly friendly. 10 out of 10!

Wow, the best "proeflokaal" in The Netherlands, probably the world. Both Doinja and Maurits know everything about their beers. The place is small but the atmosphere is great. I would advise every craft beer lovers to visit this place. It can be crowded om Saturday night, so come early and stay long!

TRIED to visit the 27th September 2014 after to be in the Borefts in De Molen. I was with 4 friends and we tried to visit the place... but at the entrance the barkeeper refused us the access.

For my a new Cafe (proeverij). Nice little cafe near the oude gracht. Many local special beers from friendly breweries. 9 beers on tap, 100 beers on the bottle. Crew is very good, can tell you all about the different beers. When we come in Utrecht, we are definitely going back.

One of the better selections of local Dutch beer that I’ve come across. They seem to specialize in the upstarts, too, so its worth a visit. Good location off the oudegracht, but its pretty hip so be prepared for a crowd on the weekends.

Went there with my two best friends because I heard good stories about this place. Wasn’t disappointed in the least. Huge selection of, mainly Dutch, beers, friendly and knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices. The only minor drawback is that it is a bit small inside.

Has to be one of the best bars in the Netherlands for modern Dutch beers. Small, two blocks off the centre and Oude Gracht. Smart and sophisticated, like a trainee old brown cafe without the smoke. Huge knowledge stacked behind the bar. Don’t be afraid to be led. Best when quiet.

They have a great selection of beers: a lot of beers from local breweries (mostly situated in Utrecht) and other (Dutch) microbreweries. Of course they have a lot of Belgian beers as well. They’ve got a lot of knowledge about the beers they sell. Only drawback is the size: it is tiny, so tables ar often occupied and once we weren’t even able to enter it at all!
