One of the most interesting dudes I’ve ever met. Amazing selection of beers. Lots of picture and bottle sharing. Had a big headache the next morning!

Close to the centre & easy to find. Nice, clean interior, traditional with a hint of modern. Lots of love for Struise going on here, bottle & advertisement on display. Service is very knowledgeable of its product and good - the agread to my off-beat request. De Kelk is very much your traditional village café in Belgium but with much better beer choice than those kind of places usually have. Which is apparently exactly what the owner was going for, mission accomplished. Very much a nice local place with a good share of local clientele plus some tourists. Choices are solid Belgian stuff, including some less popular but fine options plus a good selection of the common trappist & lambic beers in Belgium. Kept in fine condition. A good choice of Struise beers including a couple of less common ones plus a handful of fine De Molen beers. Most options are well priced plus there was one fine Struise beer on tap when I visited, some of the rare Struise stuff & De Molen is very expensive – some of these are understandable considering the purchase cost. Food I believe is limited to snacks. If you already have done a lot of BE beers you may not find new stuff here but De Kelk might be a great option to get a view of the kind of bar you usually won’t go to whilst venturing beer geek establishments whilst enjoying some fine beers. Maybe important the cross-section of beers here is comparable to the ones offered @ Brugs Beertje, whilst the previous offers some Smiske / Smisje stuff, this one offers choices from the fine, touch more USA-centric breweries De Molen & Struise. Unlike Brugs Beertje, this one offers a far more traditional bar despite what you might feel what a traditional BE bar should be like.

Best boozer in Bruges, unpretentious, knowledgeable owner and staff, friendly locals and sublime beer. Black Albert was the best beer on a mammoth 4 day session recommended by the owner and like most of his suggestions was spot on, also try his offbeat saisons and auld gauze. If you want a change from the tourist-traps would highly recommend De Kelk

Just back from 5 days in Bruges, including 3 decent sessions in Die Kelk. Best bar in Bruges for me, with a more innovative and interesting selection than Bruges Beertje. Loved the ambience, especially the fact that most of the seating is provided by stools at the bar, an almost forgotten concept these days. Music choice excellent too, like a trip down memory lane for an indie fan like me but with some kitsch classic and eurodisco thrown into the mix. But to the beer. I’m a guezehead so being able to sample stuff I had’nt tried previously like the sublime Morlai and more mainstream Tilquin oude guezes alongside classics like Oude Beersel & Girardin Black Label was a real result. The Pannepot beers were also excellent, especially the rich Black Albert at 13%, and my other half tried out a very treacly De Molen whose name I can’t recall. Also loved the on-tap Duchesse de Bourgogne, my favourite oud bruin. Landlord and owner Jeroen is key to the success of De Kelk. No bullshit with him - he’ll tell you if he thinks a beer’s decent before you buy. I know that tasting new beers is part of the thrill, but when you’re spending more than you usually would some real honesty like that is very welcome. He’s also a generous host - i walked away with a 750ml bottle of rare kriek as a birthday gift, having only met the man a couple of hours earlier. I’d recommend De Kelk as the starting, mid and finsihing pont for drinking in Bruges. Once you’ve been there, you’ll always find yourself going back

Loud, uncozy bar. But a good beerselection. Staff is friendly but not knowlegable on beer. A beerbar too many for Bruges. Restrooms very smelly and not looked after. Not my kind of place.

Only open in the evenings, with a very local crowd, buy always a good atmosphere & music selection. Very limited seating so get there at 7pm opening tim eif you want a table. Extensive selection of aged & rarer beers as well as the norm, but a price.
