We (me & my dad) visited here Sunday 10th March 2013. I am quite surprised that I hadn’t been here before despite my frequent visits to Amsterdam over the last 5-6 years. It is a small bar just far enough away from a lot of tackiness around Leidsplein even so you run the gauntlet of the type of restaurant where someone is outside trying to entice passers by in. Anyway back to the pub. The beer list was pretty decent there a few I’d not had, however I stuck to an old favourite Zinnebier. The young barman was very chatty and with ’I am Kloot’ playing in the bacground he had a good taste in music as well. The bar as mentioned is v.small, the bar counter is on the right as you enter with most of the beers displayed on a large chalkboard on the left, most of the seating was off to the left also. We had a couple here (I had two Zinnebiers) before heading back into the centre if the town to de Prael.

Located on one of the most lively street outside the center of Amsterdam is a pretty cool beer bar named De Spuyt. A little touristy than the town center pubs the patrons seem to be a bit more trendy student type, at least when I visited. Alternative music at acceptable level. Tap selection is limited with about 6 lines (Jopen, Brouwerij ’t IJ and some belgiums) so the extensive bottle selection is the main attraction beer-wise. Selection is about half Dutch, half Belgium (including Westys). I had a bottle of ’t IJ Columbus which somehow wasn’t available at the ’t IJ brewpub during my visit there. Friendly relaxed atmosphere. Overall worth a pit stop and the street is pretty lively so it is a fun surrounding.

Small, bit dark place close to Leidscheplein. Decent selection of mostly belgian beers, but they some good stuff. Nothing rare to be found, but above average. Good atmosphere, friendly and decent service. Decent place.

I’ve been around and about the Leidsplein for concerts for 5 years or so, never realised this little gen existed. OK, if it was next door to the Wildeman you wouldn’t look twice, but compared to anywhere within 1Km it’s brilliant.

Nice beer bar in an area full of tourist traps. The selection is decent, service is good, atmosphere is surprisingly nice for this area. The only problem of this pub is that it is in Amsterdam, where there are places like Arendsnest, Wildeman and BeerTemple nearby... De Spuyt is just not that special, better than average still.

Visited on a saturday afternoon, nice place in or around the shopping area, just what I want, a seat on the outside, facing the people rushing by, relaxing with a nice brew. Quite good selection as well, will visit again.

Visited on a Sunday evening. Nice small bar, dark but cozy place, mix of high and low seatings, barstools. Good but small tap selection, good bottle selection with some not so common beers for fair prices. Will come again.
