76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 AirForceHops (80) Epping, New Hampshire | May 28, 2013 Stopped in for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. The bartenders and staff for friendly and jovial even with the place at full capacity. The breakfest sandwich I ordered was tasty and my buddy enjoy his burger. The draft list was pretty solid and had a few rarties. With Sunset Grill right down the road, it maybe hard for me to stop back here but it is in the relm of possiablity. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 MaBeer1972 (77) Taunton, Massachusetts | May 12, 2013 Stopped here after Sunset. Completely different vibe. Smallish inside - Great place to hang out, much more limited beer selection, but very well though out. Knowledgeable staff, correct glassware. Did not eat here though. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 radarsock (37) Massachusetts | March 6, 2013 Visited last weekend while I was in the area. Right away I knew this is the kind of bar that’s constantly packed and cramped like a tin box of sardines: there was a line to the front door because of the limited seats available; I could smell everyone’s body odor inches from my face. Just like finding the perfect parking spot, I leapt to the nearest stool as soon as one of the full customers had left the bar. Tap list was extensive and moderately priced. I will have to say, however, that the food here was reasonably sized, but not necessarily as big as I thought it should’ve been. It’s probably no surprise, as is often the case, that I simply didn’t enjoy it all that much. I ordered an "everything" burger, which had cost me nearly $13. I could have destroyed the Happy Menu with that kind of money. It was one burger on a large bun and fries. Yawn. The bartenders here were the real stars; obviously great service and enjoyable taps means I’ll likely be back, I’ll just skip the food. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 swoopjones (238) Buffalo, New York | January 24, 2013 good spot, nice vibe, was somewhat previously overserved by the time I arrived (11 hill farmstead drafts will do that) Bartenders were quick & on top of things. selection was solid. I heard the tacos next door are top notch (same owner I believe) | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 michcam8 (12) Ohio | December 1, 2012 My wife and I visited after watching our nephew play goalie for Boston College in soccer. Trendy part of town with lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Very limited seating at bar and tables. Tables are lined up next to each other on the right side while the bar is on the left side. You sit very close to your neighbor, so if you are next to a couple of drunk girls, it can hinder your experience. Selection is great both tap and bottles. Food was excellent for mostly being a bar. Service was hit and miss, as our waiter had multiple tables. Overall a good place for both beer and food. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 jrallen34 (271) Chicago, Illinois | October 7, 2012 Cool area of town that reminds me of an up and coming Bucktown. Traffic was horrible, this place is a beast to get to.
Excellent draft list with superb locals, appears to have excellent cocktails as well.
The food looks great. I had some apps, but they took over 45 minutes to get so kind of ruined my quick stop in Boston.
Cool place, worth spending time at. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Lukaduke (42) Portland, Maine | September 10, 2012 Stopped in around 3pm on a friday to have some grub and sipp a few drafts before heading to NOtF. Nice classy little place with a bunch of hipster types working the bar. great selection with alot of light low abv seasonal draftss that were just what we were looking for considering we would be drinking all night long ! Anyhow good variety of locals and imports with some high end bottles on the menu list as well. Great great food ! Wow for $12 the huge plate of crispy fries topped with lemon aioli and mussels was amazing as was the duck confit breakfast and bahn mi. looking forward to heading back there with my wife someday soon. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 lushawn (230) Massachusetts | July 21, 2012| Updated October 20, 2012 buncha tight german brews on tap all day. neat building of brick. outdoor patio. can get crowded. cool place, always enjoy a pint of bia here. best ambiance, food, beer combo in boston area. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 bmerz (118) Brooklyn, New York | February 28, 2012| Updated October 20, 2012 A proper bar though clean for Alston. The beer list isn’t huge but it’s very good. The local MA selection was extensive. There were a few German monastery brews I’ve never seen anywhere. I had one. The bottle was clearly compromised. When I mentioned this to the bartender he promptly popped another bottle to test it to the same conclusion He took both back and gave me the other option which was good. I was impressed with his commitment to quality and service. The food was really good bar food. Prices were all fair. The mixed drinks looked to be quality but I didn’t partake :) | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 19/20 Beerlando (70) Orlando, Florida | December 7, 2011| Updated October 20, 2012 Whelp, this place officially kicks ass. Walked in on a rainy December Wednesday evening...dark as hell at 4:30 pm...and that didn’t stop them from dimming the lights to dungeon-like levels (love it). There’s a very Euro feel to the place, what with it’s exposed brick walls, dramatic crown molding, attractive dark wood, and old-school double blade belt-driven ceiling fans. Service was prompt, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. As for selection...how does 11 of the 20 drafts coming in at or under 5% ABV sound? This place must be the official hops of locally brewed session beer...what a novel concept (southern brewers take note). The food? House made charcuterie was our choice. The duck prosciutto was amazing, as was the habanero infused sausage. It was really nice to be able to order a 3.5% hoppy bitter to go with my appetizer. I could have sat there all day. Well...I’ll stop gushing over this place now, though I could certainly go on. This is a 99 percentile bar, of you ask me. Fantastic spot.....a true "must visit". |
