Not really a separate place from the Cafe, but they have different hours in the same space, so ok. This is the upstairs part that has a bunch of ipa’s, stouts and mostly American beers. This has a better selection than downstairs and not as many drunk puking 18 year olds. Come up here if open instead of downstairs.

Can I review a place without having had a drink in there? Well, I’m going to. Called here on a quiet afternoon. There were a handful of punters scattered around. The barman did his best to avoid acknowledging us and seemed happy to sit with his feet up staring at his phone. That’s fine, I perused the beer chalkboard. Well, tried to. I could barely read it. Seemed a lot of US beers. Prices looked OK. I checked some RB ratings and some were from here ages ago. Same beer (same kegs?) from last year? While doing this the missus came back from using the toilets, with a look of horror on her face! That’s when decided to leave. I don’t think the barman looked up from his phone, even then. A dump.

The upstairs part of the Delirium Village and probably more young hipster than downstairs. Very, very busy and noisy, we managed to squeeze into a table in the corner, there seemed to be large groups of youngsters in evidence all having a great time and the conversation gratefully outdoing the music. The choice seems to be largely American, certainly on our visit. I must say I prefer downstairs, but we will do both on future visits.

Extremely noisy place, but there are some good beers waiting for you. Friendly service, prices are almost reasonable but I wouldn’t take my wife to this place. Brilliant posters on the wall.

How did I NOT rate Belgian places back in March 2013. I fully intended to miss Délirium as a whole, but 77ships insisted (I think) we meet at the Hoppy Loft and that was most definitely a win. A section / part of the Délirium building - topmost, as the name says - devoted to craft / micro beer. The atmosphere is far more relaxed than the crowded, loud, bustling regular Délirium, and as such better (now I scrolled down and notice that others are noting just that). And that’s great! The selection would cause a major seizure or at least palpitations in most beer bros. Great, rare stuff from Belgium, USA, and likely every relevant country for the scene... oh and something like Campus Premium because they had to. :D Anyway, pricey, as expected, but you’ll find stuff you’ll struggle to find elsewhere. The service was great from a guy (I forget from where, Scotland?), who mentioned that he’s quitting or something soon enough - a cool guy who really knew what he was doing and plenty enough about beer itself. Too often do we see people who don’t know jack about what they are selling in otherwise top beer places, and this definitely wasn’t the case. So a shout out to him, Ben from NZ and the guys from Iceland - there were few enough people there that we naturally got together as a bunch and started tasting / sharing / talking beer... A brilliant experience! Millevertus La Mčre Vertus was in great shape, a superb, SUPERB tripel, De Prael Herfstbok, Omnipollo Leon on tap, Rogue Double Chocolate Stout on tap, Hornbeer Grisk, Gypsy Tears (Red Wine Barrel) for my 3500, Anchor Humming Ale, Sainte Hélčne Simcoe Lager, Thornbridge Versa, Struise Motuecha, the old Green Flash West Coast IPA, De Dolle Extra Export Stout, Anderson Valley Vinter Solstice, Left Hand Milk Stout, Forestinne Mysteria, oh and some Ölvisholt Skjálfti that the Icelanders brought for the bartender who generously shared it with us.... and one I conveniently wrote the name of indecypherably for. Damn. Brilliant enough for me to miss the last public transport for the day and have to walk 4.5ish km to where I was in Ixelles through a completely frozen, snowy Bruxelles. Yes, I was a complete moron that night, a serial ticker / kid in a candy store. And it’s a fond, fond memory.

Whilst running from the Mardi Gras bullshit that is the Delirium Cafe I decided to take a quick look upstairs. Glad I did, as it was much more quiet. In fact, we were the only people there. Service-wise I had a bit of a strange experience. The guy behind the bar didn’t seem to take notice of our arrival. When I approached the bar I noticed a number of interesting looking (American) bottles, being in the mood for an IPA I asked if he had a nice Double IPA. He answered with an indifferent "no", could barely be bothered to look me in the eye and that was it. I had to actively ask for suggestions. So I got a decent American smoked porter and took a seat. About 20 minutes later he comes up to me all friendly and gives me a rather healthy pour of a nice Session IPA that just came on tap for free! Multiple personality disorder syndrome? I don’t know, but it was a nice gesture and it alleviated some of the pain of my Delirium Village visit.

Visited 10-SEP-2015, with Ulklřbben. Quiet, not all that cosy. Tap selection is small. Bottle selection is interesting with quite some Americans but no bottle list is available. Bottle were mainly old, so we got half Price on all. Not bad with Barley Wines and Imperial Stouts. Very helpfull staff.

The upstairs bar at Delirium is small and offers a few dozen seats. The beer selection was much smaller than the main bar and it was nearly as loud here but without the teenagers groping each other as appears normal in the main level and basement. There are much better places to drink beer in Brussels.

visited during a private Belgian Family brewers event, but bar was open for paying customers too; so still gets a rate. Sticky floors, stale beer and overly bright. Some nice breweriana on the walls. Interesting beers on draught and in bottle list; though on the pricey side, especially for the rarer bottles. Both my viven beers were on the stale side and likely hadn’t been pulled through. Not a good showing on first visit.
