74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Schlenkerla (203) , Austria | March 10, 2013 Good place with a long bar and all the great Deschutes beers. Very centrally located, not far from Bend brewing company. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 DuffMan (217) the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta | October 22, 2012 Great spot. Spacious, nice looking pub with lots of Brewmaster’s creations on tap to keep things interesting, in addition to the usual quality Deschutes brews. Busy, but staff were attentive and service was prompt. I would definitely return. Wasn’t able to try the food. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 tia (68) Sandston, Virginia | October 9, 2012 August visit.
Nice and lodge-like inside (but I like the PDX location decor better).
It was a little busy for late on a Thursday but service was fine.
Good selection of their own brews.
Prices seemed average.
Was honestly exhausted when we got here after a long day on the road- so the beer was welcome, but would have enjoyed it more had we been fresher. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 jhogan4 (36) El Cajon, California | September 25, 2012 My wife and I visited Deschutes in Bend, from California. We tried the bar area and the restaurant. I wish we had someplace like this in San Diego - really nice bar, friendly servers, tons of beers to try, and good food. Great place. | 84 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 19/20 dnbthompson (4) Bend, Oregon | September 14, 2012 what can I say? Being a local since 1989 I have seen "The Pub" grow since a baby. The food is excellent but expensive now. Most locals eat there only on occasions. The bar service is always very good and the boys will help you out with your selection which is huge. But, once again as a local, no happy hour and only one "locals night" on Mondays. I still LOVE THIS PLACE. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 thomas15 (17) | August 18, 2012 Brewery served ample portions of food. Had their aniversery black butte on draft. Good service and value. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 18/20 poisoneddwarf (16) Rathdrum, Idaho | June 12, 2012 Very cool little (actually fairly big) place to have Deschutes beer and good food. There were a number of beers that are only available at the Public House. I had the Ryed Trees of Doom and it was delicious. My Luv Burger was just okay but my wife’s Pub Burger was really good, and the Hop Hummus was awesome. My sons enjoyed the brewery-made sarsaparilla. It was really good. The ambience was cool--very modern. We had to wait 30 minutes for a table, even though there were clearly open tables visible, which was annoying. The worst thing of all about it was the prices. The food was really expensive, and I bought a sticker for my beer fridge that was $4 freaking dollars! I could have bought another beer with that money! | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Ferris (78) Edmonton, Alberta | June 5, 2012 Since the recent renovation this place is huge. This may be great for some, but to me it loses any ambiance it may have had as a cozy bar. Bartenders are great, always quick and helpful. Beer is limited to what they produce, but they always have some casks and a few experimentals that can be great. Food always sounds better than it is (marketing masters), it isn’t bad but for the price there are better places to eat. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 kathouse (34) Nevada | May 28, 2012 Very crowded in the bar area, this pub is obviously very popular. There was a wait when we arrived but we found a table close to the bar in just a few minutes. Good selection of food and great selection of beer. The mac & cheese was absoulutely delicious. The brewmaster salad was good but underwhelming. Sweet potatoe fries are some of the best I’ve ever had. Chick peas are a pass. Overall, a very good place to hang out. The restaurant seems quieter than the bar and is a better location for those who actually want to have a conversation. BTW, try the mustard. It’s awesome | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 zizzybalubba (71) Elizabeth City, North Carolina | May 17, 2012 The Deschutes Brewery & Public House is a nice restaurant located in downtown Bend that happens to also serve great beer. The interior hazy a cozy lodge-like feel (or maybe that’s because I was seated next to the fireplace). Service and food were great. Some brewpub exclusives were offered and some of them were exclusive only to the Bend brewpub. Given the selection of brewpub exclusives I chose the sampler tray which was reasonably priced. Certainly one of the best stops in Bend and a top-notch brewpub...The brewery itself is not listed as a separate entry but is worthy of a visit if you want a top notch brewery tour. It is located at 901 SW Simpson Ave. and offers daily tours. |
