Visited on a Monday night in November 2015. Huge dining hall with ornate decorations festooned around. It looks great and is clearly popular with the local crowd as we had to wait a couple of minutes for a table. Tried a sampler tray which had a mostly special beers on. Food was excellent and prices not too steep. If you want to try Deschutes beer and are in Portland then this is the place to go!

Very cool spot. Big beer hall with plenty of character, even if itís manufactured. Flight of 6 available for $9, not bad. Found a few beers I hadnít tried, but most of the beers are commonly found in stores/bars.

Visited after dinner on a Tuesday. Big sprawling spot on a corner in downtown. A bunch of wood everywhere, and a huge bar and dining room. The place was packed with locals, tourists, business people, really all sorts of folks. I was lucky enough to secure a spot at the end of the bar, and the bartender was attentive and knowledgeable. 14 beers on draft, regular rotation as well as quite a few seasonals and brewpub only one-offs. All of the food coming out looked solid, though I didnít eat. Worth a stop, particularly if you are a Deschutes fan like me.
82 = ★★★Ĺ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.

My first port of call visiting Portland. Very busy seats at the bar are usually at a premium. The $9 sample tray is a good way to sample a good selection of beers

Visited early evening Wed July 1, 2015. Had a 5-10 minutes waiting list, even though the place is pretty big. Me and my friend got a table after a while, I had a 6 sample tray, she had the one beer. Didnít eat. Part of the brewery setup visible from the restarant area. Service so-so. Fairly big selection of beers. Didnít look at the food menu. Walked over from Tugboat, not far. After walked to Fat Heads, not far either. Also very close to Rogue. Very central, parking might be hard. Couldnít get the free WiFi working. If I had the chance Iíd go back again.

Pretty large brewpub that has a slightly more upscale restaurant feel to it than you might often find in such a place. Classy decor, but still fits into the Portland feel with lots of wood and kind of an open feel to it.
The place was packed at lunch time on a Friday, and Iíd imagine itís almost always that way. We kind of rushed our stop here due to the schedule and how long it took to get seated. But, things worked out. They have a good number of house taps on and you can do preset flights or make your own of anything thatís on tap. A bunch of seasonals/brewpub beers as well as the year round offerings.
Service was pretty good, but again, sort of felt rushed during the whole visit...not so much by the stuff, as just the internal clock. The server was just find.
Itís sort of one of the iconic (Western) American breweries, so Iíd say a stop here is necessary, just be aware that is a popular place and gets quite crowded.

Visited several years ago and my recent trip to the one in Bend reminded me I should rate the one in Portland too. Big place, excellent food, huge tap list with many pub-only offerings made on site. Cool place.

Came here around lunch time on. A beautiful Oregon summer day. Tables on the side walk, large open resturuant, with a long bar. I sat at the bar which seemed to be the bustle with activity. Had a sample of 6 beers for $9. The beer was pretty mediocre which is what Deschutes has boils down to. Small lunch menu. Food smelled good as it went by but I went else where for food as the prices were pretty high. Overall, Iíd say if you in town stop by. If I lived in PDX I would not return after the first visit unless something awesome was on tap.... But would not hold my breath for that.
