I found the food to be very good and enjoyed the overall atmosphere. The beers were pretty good, but nothing memorable, would go back, but most likely will try some of the other detroit breweries first.

Typical brewpub feel with the brewing equipment behind the bar. Located near the baseball and football stadiums and also the Opera House so expect to be busy depending on the event. A good selection of their own beers, my IPA was fine but nothing exceptional

Small-ish place, typical brewpub vibe. Good food but the beer selection was depressingly small, & the few beers I had were not very good. A stout & an IPA... Very forgettable. Decent service, but this was one visit a long time ago, & I havenít been tempted to go back since.

Itís good a very warm, lodge-like feel to it; only with large brewing vats behind the bar. Generous pours on the flights make the $6.50 price for five samples very appealing. They do exclude their bigger beers (DIPA), but nothing to cry about. The selection is only their current brews with no guest taps, and theyíre not exactly a huge brewery, so donít expect a huge selection, but the beers they have range from decent to good. Thereís nothing exceptional, but all are palatable. The waitress recommended that I drink their rye beer in the middle of my flight (hefe, porter, rye, brown, and IPA), in retrospect, I wouldíve placed the rye last, but thatís splitting hairs; the staff is friendly and inviting. The food ainít too bad either. Oh, and they have outdoor seating (although I didnít partake since it was still hockey playoff season and they donít have any outdoor TVs).

Stopped in before a game at joe Louis and sampled the 9 beers in tap. Nice looking facility located near comerica park and ford field. Bartender was friendly. The 9 beers were a nice assortment, a light, pale ale, ipa, porter, brown, detroit dwarf. Two big beers double dwarf and a dark Belgian ale. Nice job with the beer , several were pretty good. Nice brewpub.

The best thing about this brewery this that it is the closest to Comerica Park in the summer. The food is good and the beer is pretty good too. This is a solid option if you are going to a Tigers game and looking for some craft beer.

(Visited 05/2012): DBC is located in downtown Detroit on Broadway near Grand Circus Park. Metered street parking and garages are nearby.
The interior opens to a relatively narrow space with a few high tables and an L-shaped bar running along the right side. Brewing equipment is right behind the bar. Wood and brick motif, and past the bar it opens to some table seating. There is an upstairs as well.
Detroit Beer Co had five house beers on tap during our visit, courtesy of a sampler. These included People Mover Porter, Liberty Lager, 1529 IPA, Baseball Beer and Detroit Dwarf. All in all the beers are decent, but no stand-outs.
Service on our visit was good. The server was efficient and somewhat knowledgeable about the beers.
DBCís food is pretty good, we both enjoyed our dinners.
Overall this is a worthwhile beer stop in downtown Detroit.

Good location as I went there with some friends before a Tigers game. He the IPA, a Belgian dark version of the Dwarf Red, and the Steam Tunnel Stout. All were good beers. Chicken Fingers were also solid. Service was ok, but fairly good with how busy they were. Very enjoyable experience.

Third stop on a recent trip to Detroit with my girlfriend.
Atmosphere: fun welcoming vibe, patrons of all ages, cool chalkboard drawings, Christmas lights add a nice charm, busy spot on a Saturday night, not much seating aside from the main bar and a few tables in the back.
Service: waitress was fast, courteous, and capable of describing the house beers, food arrived in reasonable time. No complaints here.
Selection: ordered the Local 1529 IPA (solid) and Big Sky Scotch Ale (average) on tap; the lady enjoyed her wine. They seem to brew a respectable range of styles as the chocolate stout, pilsner, brown ale, altbier, porter, and tripel were all available on our visit. SN Celebration was the other guest draught.
Food: went with the Brewhouse Nachos, which were pretty tasty. Pizza, sandwiches, and pasta dominate the menu but thereís some lighter options like salads and catfish.
Overall: while thereís nothing spectacular about this brewpub, I like the approachable party ambience and the IPA is very good. Iíd love to return for a full meal to get a better feel for the place; however, based on our positive experience Iíd say Beer Co. is worth a crawl if you happen to be downtown.

Surprised I havenít rated this place yet. This is a solid brewery in the heart of downtown Detroit. They donít have a ton of beers on tap, but have their staples plus a few special brews. They arenít afraid to try some new things, but wouldnít be called experimental by any stretch. Ambiance is nice, especially the bar upstairs when it is open. $5 growlers on Tuesdays are nice.
