90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 VT (33) Quebec City, Quebec | February 20, 2013 Small place, quickly crowds. Beautiful place. Service was somewhat slow, yet quite good, considering the amount of people in there. Food was standard pub fare, maybe a bit pricey. Beer selection was great, lots of exclusives, some ambitious stuff. Great, great brewpub. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 rejtable (58) Ontario | February 13, 2013 What an awesome spot. Get there early, especially on the weekend. Tables are crammed in and the noise is loud, all in a good way! Food is simple, nachos, pizza, etc but well made. Beer selections are always a dozen or more of their own with lots of variety to choose from. A little bit hard to get to, but well worth the small effort. One of the great brewpubs anywhere. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 kiwi_zg (16) , New Zealand | January 26, 2013 Visited here Feb 2013, middle of winter on Friday night. The place fills up,quickly. Limited space when busy. Tables are pack in tight.
Excellent beers, way better on tap than the bottle versions I have had in the pass.
Service efficient too for a busy place.
A must place to visit if you appreciate good beer. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 tom10101 (36) Quebec | October 5, 2012 Nice place, very good service (they know their products) nice selection of DDC beers and there’s always a couple of very good beers on the menu. Price are reasonable. It’s the place to hit when in Montreal. | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Theydon_Bois (372) The ’Sham, England | September 16, 2012| Updated September 29, 2012 Visited on March 3rd 2012, a Saturday night around 8.30pm.
Waited at the bar for a few minutes and tried to catch the bar tenders attention. He finished serving and that had a chat with a colleague. A group of young lads turned up a few minutes after my friends and I. I tried to catch his attention again and instead of asking who was first, he started serving them. Being no shrinking violet I challenged this and told him we had been waiting 2 or 3 minutes longer. He looked a bit pissed off but served us (and rightfully so) instead. No please/thankyou etc.
When I paid I didn’t tip. He told me ’in our country it is tradtional to tip the bar staff’’ . No shit? I told him that in bars I’d visited in his country and others it’s traditional to be aware and serve the people who have been waiting longest first! The lads in question weren’t even locals/regulars - for which I could have forgiven him. Not having got off to the best start and rant aside ... we found a table after a few minutes and the waitress service was fine. Beer selection OK - DDC beers only as I had expected. Tried 3 beers, all OK - nothing to brilliant to be honest, just typical brew pub offerings if all be told (have had far better bottled offerings from DDC btw) , surprised at how highly this place gets rated ! | 84 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 mcberko (134) Vancouver, British Columbia | September 14, 2012| Updated September 29, 2012 Easily the best brewpub in Montreal, with easily the best beers. Prices are very reasonable and the service is great – helpful and very friendly. 16 rotating taps of DdC beers with a wide array of styles. Food is decent too, about as good as any brewpub in Montreal. Perhaps the only downside is the pour acoustics which make the place exceedingly noisy on a Friday or Saturday evening - so I prefer to hit this place up in the afternoon during the week when it’s quieter. All in all, a must hit when in Montreal. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 left_bank (25) , Japan | September 2, 2012| Updated September 29, 2012 beers are very good, the pub(by itself) is good.
went om a sunday afternoon, seating both inside and outside.servers were good, beer was-again-very good...just thimk that the pub itself(everything from the table/chairs to the room to walk to the music is all just slightly above average). | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 auerbrau (278) Peace Dale, Rhode Island | August 24, 2012| Updated September 29, 2012 A benchmark brewpub in many ways. The ambiance was Montreal-summer-night perfection, the waitstaff friendly, inviting, and tolerant of my American English. There is something less exciting about going to a brewpub where half of the beers can be bought in the bottle at the next gas station over, but I appreciated trying somethings that aren’t available elsewhere. The beers were great, the prices fair, and the crowd fun. Invigorating. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 PaulUnwin (96) Pinellas Park, Florida | August 20, 2012| Updated September 29, 2012 Great little brewpub, very busy at 5.30pm when I went in there. Great choice of beers on tap. I had 10 different beers with 2 flights and didn’t have a bad beer. The food looked great, I didn’t have any myself as I’d just eaten, but the meat and cheese plate looked as though it would have hit the spot. There was outside seating on the sidewalk but no seats available, inside was the same, I just managed to get a seat at the end of the bar. Had friends that went at 10pm, and said they couldn’t hardly get thru the door, all this on a Thursday night, I hope to go back! |
