Visited last November. They opened at 4 - we were there at 3 and waited. Extremely wide selection (I seem to remember the full 12 listed above) - tried three and was not disappointed. Didn’t try the food. Didn’t have any of the crowd or noise mentioned here - we played with the scrabble boards they provided us. I’ll be back again.

A cozy, if unremarkable, little pub with seating for probably 100 people at most (and that would be pushing it I think). We got there pretty late on Saturday and got a table for 6 without a wait. I was surprised considering the descriptions of how crowded this place gets. 12 house-brewed beers on tap. We all shared around the table, so I got to try everything. All beers were well above average, and the selection catered to all palates. Music was good, mostly rock alternative. Crowd was chillin’. Love the new no-smoking rule in Montreal! Didn’t try the food. Knowing that they change the beer selection regularly, I would make it a point to return. I was not disappointed, although I must admit that the place itself didn’t have nearly the character I had imagined it would-- a pretty ordinary pub with some extraordinary beers.

Based on the ratings I was expecting this place to be great. I made a special trip to try their beer and I have to say I was disappointed. The beer list was different then what the website said, which sucked, cause the best beer they had listed on the site wasn’t available. The food was pretty limited, if you don’t like cheese, don’t order. The selection was nice for a brewpub, but having some variety might be a bit nicer. You want a REAL brewpub? Go to BRUTOPIA, I was there for 3 nights and spent the first and third nights there (after visiting Dieu du Ciel on the second night).

I’m not really sure how this is one of the worlds best brew pubs. There are about 12-15 tables in there and when I was there, there were about 100 people in there. Most people were standing. It was really hot and the music was so loud you couldn’t hear the people you were sharing a table with. I feel that maybe much of the high ratings come from the beers, which were world-class. Next time I’m in Montreal, I’ll try to stop by when it’s earlier in the day, I have a feeling that 10:00pm on a Friday wasn’t a good choice to start with. I will re-rate then.

Situated in a smallish building, this place always seems to have great beers on. Even this last time I was there, where they were mainly featuring guest taps, the selection was great as was the ambiance. It was also great to get to hang out with some great Ratebeerians while there!

An amazing Montreal brewpub. It gets very busy in the evening, and can be difficult to find a table for even 3 or 4. The beer is excellent and their offerings change every few days with the current list available on their website. The kind of place you could return to time after time and it would always be great.

Ok. DdC c’est la place. 5 à 7 bien bruyant, mais c’est toujours plein. Arrivez de bonne heure pour avoir une table. Sinon, faites-vous des amis. Et que dire des bières !

The selection of beer varies on a weekly basis, so there’s always a reason to drop by. I haven’t sampled too much of their food selection, but the nachos are a quite nice.
The no-smoking bylaw means you don’t have to put up with cigars and cigarettes anymore. I find it a bit too crowded in the early evening, but it’s generally nice and quiet in the late afternoons.

Went for an anniversary party in 2006 for the first time. I got very drunk, lost my Hair of the Dog sweat shirt and woke up to a huge scab on my knee. Went a couple weeks later the beer was and is still great.

On a brisk monday afternoon one might enter to find this celebrated bar empty, as I did in early december. However at the Dieu du Ciel you are always in the company of friendly service and a 9 tap row; sure enough as the Montreal sun goes down, regular patrons will take their cue along the wooden bar. Brewer Jean-Francois was about, preparing a fresh line of ale, and then found time for tour of his facilities. The Dieu du Ciel has a compact brewing system, as for every batch they produce 5 hectoliters of beer (~132 us gal) (Not sure on this; true?) . This brewing capacity ensures fresh beer on tap and allows Jean-Francois creative space to experiment with recipes, as any brewer would desire. The brewery is said to begin a full line of bottled beer in the near future, however the bar and atmosphere will remain the core of this Montreal gem.
