Really nice looking from the outside. Inside was kinda cluttered, dirty, and smelt of fish. Bartender was nice and served us fast. Pizza looked good, but only stopped in to try some beer. 6 beers on tap that were mostly average, with the exception of the Cinnister stout. Read good things about this brewpub, however I was not too impressed.

I donít wish to detract from a brewpub but this place is rather divey. It fits itís location.
The Pilsner was better than I expected but 14oz for $5.50 ($1 off on the Pilsner only for happy hour) is a ?
The pizza was better than expected too but nothing to return for.
I thought the prices were high but hey, if youíre into tattoos, black clothing, and metallic objects inserted through bodily piercings youíre in luck.
This place has a rescue mission feel to it. Sure glad I moved away from this general area 35 years ago.
Oh... the Dude de Garde (beer) was depressing.

A pleasant trip out from Center City on the trolley in the sunshine took me to this excellent brewpub. The building, and the staff, have a rather grungy feel, but are actually charming, the beer was good too. Food also seemed good, and was very popular. Definitely worth the trip.

Stopped here for an afternoon flight of their beers. Good service, nice beer selection. Small seating area (in and out) with a decent menu (though I didnít eat here). Bottles and growlers to go.

i love the feel of this place. used to be a firehouse and not too much was changed inside before adding all the seating and bar/brewing equipment. food is great, especially if you like pizza. prices arenít bad, either. especially for the city.
theyíre starting to experiment, which iím loving. adding brett to their saison, adding chocolate to their imperial stout (for valentineís of course!). theyíre getting good results.
i go back whenever iím in the neighborhood.

Scruffy and characterful brewpub in a neighborhood that looks like itís only recently post-conflict. The beers are decent enough, and the pizza is outstanding. Staff and locals alike are friendly. Decent stop.

Other than the parking and being unfamiliar with the neighborhood, this place was great. Had a couple of beers, both were very good. Service was excellent... good balance of attentiveness & leaving you be. Staff knows about beer. Food (burgers) were good, fries were very good. Next time will get the pizza... looked excellent. Pricing was in line and selection of drafts was fine for a brewpub. No frill place that if you are looking for a chain or full menu is not for you.

Nice old firehouse old concrete floors long bar and lots of seating area shame its in a crappy neighborhood, well up and coming neighborhood (slowly) .... The wood oven pizza was amazing had the bbq one and it was tasty .... the brews are always above average they had 5 on tap and a pint was 5 bucks .... the bartender Chris was prompt, friendly and knew his brews... definitely a place to visit and revisit

Former firehouse makes an odd BrewPub, especially when it is in the ghetto. Service was slow, inattentive, and oblivious about their beers. 7 or so house brews on tap. Pizza, fries, and burger were all good. In fact, the pizza was very good. Reasonable prices. Will not be running back since I can get their beers elsewhere.

This was my coup de coeur in Philadelphia. An out of the way brewpub that almost no one bothers going to. Itís actually not very complicated to reach. Take the metro to 52nd st. station and walk South for a mile or so. The walk is culturally valuable, but letís just say that if youíre a girl, I would not do it alone after sunset... Once you reach destination though, the whole neighborhood changes dramatically. Bus starts to exist again and the grey sky prepared a spectacular thunderstorm for us that started just as we arrived and finished just as we left. Good times. Once inside, the wood-fired pizza oven welcomes you home and this old building with high ceilings and school grilled gym windows with white walls, random tables and lefty, punk-like waiters are not only a sharp contrast with the neighborhood youíve just walked in, it also feels trashy and relaxing. We had some superb pizzas here. I must have tried pizza perhaps a hundred times in the United States and I believe this is the best one Iíve had save in Burlington and at Pizza Port. The crust was perfectly crunchy and just buttery enough. Thinking about it all, I feel a strong connexion between this place and Pizza Port. Same type of relaxed mood, great food and great beer. Talking about the beer, they had I believe 8 on tap including an excellent, very hoppy pilsner, a pretty solid peppery saison dupont clone and a convincing IPA. The 4 beers we tried were well above average. It may be a bit out of the way, but is certainly more accessible than Manayunk for instance and this one Iíd come back to anywhen.
