Not that weird, pretty tame, fairly thrown together. Several big fridges full of Belgians, a lot of which they get from Otsuki. A 300 yen table charge plus around 1200+ for a bottle of beer... adds up to some expensive beer. Perhaps ok if you have a bunch of people who want to share and do a sampling, but Iíd rather buy the bottles from a shop and do it at home. If you have limited time in town, skip it.

First of all, although this place may be "unique" and "interesting," it is not at all as "bizarre," "crazy," or "amazing" as some of the reviews below would have it. Second, it does indeed have an extensive selection of bottled Belgian beers, maybe 250-300 bottles, yet many/most were fairly common ones. I had to look around for a bit to find something I wanted to try. Three beers on tap, all of which were unimpressive choices (Mystic White? Oh, please!). Third, itís a bit pricey. Most bottles are Y,1000 or more. There is a Y300 cover charge, too. Some big-scale bottles, including a Methuselah (six liter) bottle of 2007 Duvel for only a modest Y90,000 (no, thanks). Fourth, yes yes yes, half of the space is given over to a shop full of Lolita Goth merchandise, all mildly racy and slightly creepy -- but in an ineffably cute Japanese manner. Go to Doll Dress for a bottle or two, look at the goth stuff, and move on.

Definitely unique, and for Belgian fans a fantastic selection. Beer was decent, Music was nice, girl behind bar was pleasant enough, but for some reason it just wasnít super comfortable. Maybe that had something to do with all the goth lolita clothes and ads for fashion like fake arm casts. Cool location but.

Put this on your bizarre bar list, but certainly not on par with Q-Brick, Beer Bellies or Craft Beer Base.

A very interesting novelty place, with maybe 200 Belgian beers, though not a world-class beer bar, as other reviews might lead one to believe. The gothic styles seem to be gone. Of the beers, few are rare, and many are past their drink by date. Prices are a bit better than average. Strange girly dresses on the wall, blues music on the horn. Close to Tenma station, and now more worth going to since there are two craft beer bars nearby in Tenma. Definitely fun and worth a stop, you will probably find some things that other bars in Japan donít have, but donít expect rare gems.

What an interesting place for a beer. Situated directly beneath the railway tracks you get to hear the trains rumble overhead every couple of minutes. Itís not that loud, though. Excellent selection of Belgians with a couple beers on tap, as well. Nice and helpful barkeepers. I had a couple brews Iíd never heard of before, so they get a few extra points for that. One of the bottles I picked poured completely flat and the girls behind the bar seemed more concerned than I was, definitely reassuring. They poured me a new one right away. Fun place to drink because itís just so odd.

You are NOT going to find a better bar in Kansai if you are looking for amazing beer. As of winter 2008, Doll Dress had easily over 100 different Belgium beers. Each bottle is around 1000yen with the more common beers such as Duval, Hoegarden, and Chimay a little cheaper. Hoegaarden Wit is on tap for 600yen. Many Trappist beers including quite a number of ratebeer top 100. Previous comments capture the atmosphere well. However the bartender in the evenings is a pretty girl wearing full on Goth costume and makeup. Seating charge is occasionally 300 yen but we were given food and snacks for free even without a seating charge. This is the kind of place that even locals donít know about. 100% review. Beers include Drie Fontienen Oude Gueuze, Drie Fontienen oude kriek, cantillon rose de gam, cantillon gueuze, mariage parfait and other rotating specialties. Overall might not be the best beer bar on earth, but itís the best beer bar iíve been to in japan and a place that will always have a soft spot in my heart.

One of the highlights of my trip to Japan. This place is really amazing. It was just as freaky as I was hoping, and the beer list was pretty stellar too...100% Belgian. The girl behind the bar, to quote Rick James, The kind you donít take home to mother, was super cool. She cooked us up some food and gave it to us for free. We didnít even ask for food. Like the place, it was weird. Some kind of stewed fish cakes shaped like calamari tubes, something green & speckled, like a kind of kiwi/poppyseed jello number, only I think it was a meat-like substance, and them something intestinal looking, skewered on a stick. Mmmmmm. She also let us go behind the bar to take our pictures, then she led us upstairs to the stage/event area (basically an attic) to take more photos. As for the beers, there were more Belgians I had never seen before here than anywhere I have been outside of Belgium. Thatís the good part. The bad part is, many were old & out dated, and some were just plain bad. Make sure you look at the bottle in the light before buying (serious snowflakes). They will charge you no matter how bad it is, so buyer beware. I didnít find the prices to be that great great either. Still, a place I will always remember and seek to go back to.

The antithesis of a clean suburban family restaurant. This is gothic fairytale meeting Belgian beer, and likely the most bizarre bar on this site. A combination Lolita Goth shop attached to a Belgian Beer bar with an S&M club upstairs, located in a dark alley in the middle of nowhere, in central Osaka underneath train tracks. I am not making this up. The Belgian beer bar feels like your parentís 70s basement. Dim lighting, a couple of old table, bookshelves line the wall with odd books and magazines and groceries on the floor against half opened cases of beer. The three fridges are stacked randomly with dozens Belgians. There canít be an inventory system here. The customers are a mix of lolita goth and Belgian beer lovers. The two pleasant ladies that run the bar are non-goth Belgian beer lovers. Prices are the cheapest in Japan, which is a relief given that there is no menu. The low volume jazz is absolutely perfect. Very interesting crowd on nights they have events upstairs. Ignoring the goth stuff, Doll Dress gets it right on so many levels for a beer bar. Directions: From Osaka Sta itís a five min walk to Nakazakicho Sta on the Tanimachi line (too difficult to explain ). As you walk to Nakazakicho, stick right and walk past exit #3. As soon as you pass under the JR tracks turn right and follow beside the JR tracks straight for 3 dark blocks until a Stella sign.
