Located literally across the hall from Capital Alehouse. This place is focussed on wine, but there’s over 100 bottles available plus a selection of homebrew supplies. The selection’s pretty standard for the area, I didn’t see much that I wouldn’t be able to find in other shops in VA. On the plus side, prices were quite reasonable. Overall, not worth a detour.

Update 10/19/13. The beer selection has grown since my last visit. 3 more shelves of beer and maybe the homebrew selection has increased a bit.
Literally across the hall from Cally’s Brewpub, so it makes sense to stop here if they’re open. Small store and small beer selection, but thoughtful and they cram a lot of different beers into a small space. Prices are decent. The staff were standoffish and a bit condescending, though others seem to have had a different experience, so hopefully this is not the norm. They also have gourmet foods, wine, etc. Nice little store.
Update... they’ve added a VERY small assortment of homebrew supplies. I only saw them on the way out of the store, but there are some grains, some extract, and I couldn’t tell what else, but from the space dedicated to it there couldn’t be much else.

A small shop that is convenient to stop in if you are visiting Callys. The selection is well thought out, but small, and consists mostly of American micros. The service was helpful to the other patron, but I must have had a "do not bother me" look.

Located in the same building as Callys. This is a wine store but one that has a nice selection of craft beers. I found several Stone and Troegs to name only a couple of brewers. There were probably a couple of hundred selections. They allow singles which is always a huge plus for me. On my next visit to Harrisonburg I will visit this store.

If you’re stopping by Cally’s, you may as well stop by here to see what bottles they have available. I didn’t purchase anything because I had stopped at Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg a few hours earlier, but the selection here is certainly respectable. Lots of singles available, which is a plus. Nice cozy atmosphere and friendly staff.

First, let me qualify this by saying I am the manager of this shop (why I rated the averages of the previous three ratings).
About a year ago we changed locations, and as result our beer selection has more than tripled (almost 200 selections). All beers are for sale individually (so you can mix and match). Come by and say hello!

Quite a decent selection. Mostly available in singles. Very attentive and friendly service. Came in handy as we were on a brief visit to town to visit Calhouns and I needed to pick up a few bottles as well.

Ditto what can8ianben said. The beer selection, while small, is quite nice and is rotated well, with varying styles always present, from American hop monsters to Belgians and upscale lagers. All beers are sold singly, priced at 1/6 the cost of a six pack, a big plus for someone out to try new beers. A big thumbs-up for being a wine store who has a beer enthusiast on staff to take care of the beer. Decent wine selection mostly in the $10-$15 range. A welcome establishment in these parts, and definitely worth a visit if in Harrisonburg.

Being my local shop for quality beer, I love this place. The selection is good, however the emphasis at this place is on wine. Its a fantastic little shop that has a beer selection in the back. Its tiny and somewhat hard to find, but ask around. People know where it is.
