90 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Theydon_Bois (372) The ’Sham, England | April 12, 2013 Visited on Saturday morning 23/03/13. Located just off the Gent ring road ’Geers was easy to reach by car and we had driven from DHVL in around 45 minutes.
Large warehouse type of affair stocked with a huge range of beers and other alcohol products. You can easily spend an hour browsing as we did.
The range is predominantly Belgian as you’d expect but there were also a good spattering of Mikkeller beers, US stuff from the likes of Great Divide and Jester King and plenty of Brewdog and other UK beers such as Thornbridge.
Service was good, 2 people on the tills, didn’t have to wait long. You can purchase an empty crate (of 24) to take your beers away in for E2 which is a refundable deposit should you wish to return it.
There are also toilets available and one of the workers was happy to give me the Wi-Fi code. On this day all purchases came with a free can of Maes Radler ! A rates a rate !
A great beer store and well worth making the effort for be you in the area or not - this warrants a 1 hour diversion for definate! | 96 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 20/20 dasdan (10) , Belgium | March 9, 2013 Great selection of Belgian and imported beers. | 96 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 hobsch (1) , Germany | March 2, 2013 Unbeatable selection of (extremely) rare and more common beers. Prices are reasonable and owner is very helpful. Only problem is that you are overwhelmed and must make a selection which beer you carry home.
Relaxed atmosphere. | 92 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 20/20 rulas3 (22) , Spain | February 14, 2013 Best beer shop ever, classic belgian beers, new micros, unknown traditionals, bew stuff form Scandinavia, Italy, UK or Us. Awesome! | 86 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 JorisPPattyn (37) Antwerpen, Belgium | January 25, 2013 Absolutely a must, if you:
- want to buy Belgian beer
- are located in the vicinity of Gent
- have independent means of transport (aka a car/van), and have some time.
Very good choice, the usuals and a lot else besides. Hardly ever you won’t find something new. Non-Belgian beer used to be rather restricted, with a notable exception of the Heller-Trum "Schlenkerla" beers, and more recently the Schneider Weissbierbrâu range. But jumping on the bandwagon of growing Be interest in foreign beer, the offer on foreign rarities has been constantlly upped, making it a real treasurecove at times. Dominiek and Vera, as daughter Leen will gladly assist you if you have any questions. Very reasonable prices, which is rare in (the) Gent (area). MIND! this is really Oostakker, not Gent, about twenty minutes driving northwarts, along the canal/port zone. | 82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 Wim (21) Weelde , Belgium | January 20, 2013 a nice shop and excellent selection of Belgian and foreign beers and a friendly service a ok place to go | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 alethol (12) , Netherlands | December 20, 2012| Updated December 23, 2012 Top place with great range of beers. Too bad it’s far away from where I live now, try go get there twice a year. They always surprise with rare beers from obscure breweries. Staff is kind of hit or miss, the people who just work there, well they just work there and gladly accept your money. Try to talk to one of the owners and they’ll help you with everything you need. Once the owner went digging in some boxes in his warehouse to look for a certain vintage I was looking for, and much to my surprise he sold me a whole box of it. The passion these people put into their job is unseen in Belgium. You go family Geers, cheers to all of you! | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 madmitch76 (78) , England | November 18, 2012| Updated December 23, 2012 Nice calm atmosphere in this almost Tesco Metro sized beer store. Great selection of beers at pretty reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and helpful. |
