Nice store with an interesting selection, given what is available in the Getränkemarkts around. Lots of imports if you want to stock up on pale lagers from exotic countries. Also some decent selection of actually good beers e.g. from the UK or Belgium, though when I was there the shelves were half empty. There was also hardly any customer around but me and some of the Belgians were near their BBE date. Which is a bit sad, given that this shop offers something different than any other shop in the area. Prices were reasonable.

Well, it is a store where you can get exotic beers (well, at least for German standards), but I was deeply disappointed about the poor selection. For Ireland, e.g, there was only Kilkenny and Guinness available, something you’ll get already at every supermarket. The location is based in an old Aldi Nord building and seems to be very displaced there. Such a pity for such a great idea. Anyway, you’ll get there 2,3 different brands from countries like Japan, Korea, Ghana, Mexico, USA and so on. Price are rather high, you must count with around 2,79 Euro for 330 ml. Staff is friendly but more interested in ICQ than in doing something for the store.

Just moved to a new location. The removing was still under way and all the beers weren’t available. Still rather good selection of German beers and some exotic beer countries too. Reasonable prices and friendly staff.

Very nice selection of beers from around the world (as well as some other drinks like whisky). Mostly the bigger brands from various countries rather than rarities, but some of the countries themselves are rarities (asia, afrika, south america). Staff is friendly, but they’re not beer geeks, I think the place serves more for bars and pubs than individual customers. Beware of the best befores. Quite a few beers were already past when I visited there. Still one of the only (if not only) places in Essen to get non-german, polish or czech beer.

One of the best places to buy international quality beers I have seen in Germany. Prices are a bit on the expensive side, but hey, where else can you get so many good beers in one place? Around 200 different beers in bottles from all over the world (Harveys, Anchor, most trappists, many German beers from small bavarian breweries, strange beers from Africa etc).Check their website for details and prices. I bought beers for around 40 US$ and they let me chose four beers for free from a separate box. Very nice gesture. Staff was not very knowledgeable, though.

A small oasis in overcrowded Essen. Unusual assortment by German standards, and also many beers you will never find in Dutch beer shops. Watch out, many American-looking beers are brewed in Germany! Helpful staff that also speaks a few words in Dutch. Not cheap, but absolutely worth a visit. I hope this store will stay open for many years, but I have my doubts.

Unusual beer store - by german standards - not a huge Warsteiner-Radeberger-Bitburger bottle-and barrel terminal, but a small beer-boutique with small, but quite well selected choice of mainly foreign beers (German Democratic Republic ;-), Belgium, UK(Belhaven!), New Zealand, Czech Republic and so on...) The staff is very friendly, but not always very well informed about the beers they sell.....
Worth a try !
