The old Hotel Nepomuk. 1 house beer from Rittmayer. Other than that 3 micro taps - Huppendorfer, Ganstaller and Rittmayer again. Friendly and good service. Sitting outside in the late afternoons drinking Ganstaller Zwickl Pils was awesome! Great food as well! On our last day Zwickl Pils was out though. Having been there 5 people 4 nights in a row - we take our share of the blame.

Special location, not by the river, but actually in a house in the middle of the the river (Linker Regnitzarm), and only a few steps from Klosterbräu. It’s a modern, hipster place with a bar at the entrance and a restaurant with a great view further inside. Interior in stone and wood. Clean and airy impression. Three bottles and five to six beers on tap to choose from, including a few from Drei Kronen and one from Gänstaller. Friendly service, a bit absent now and then. Clean toilets even with a guest book. Perhaps not a must-visit place, however recommended for the nice location (visited with Finn and people from Haandbryggeriet 10.10.2014).

Beautiful restaurant on the river in Bamberg, just around the corner from Klosterbräu. There are 2 good reasons to come here: food that isn’t German cuisine, and Gänstaller’s Zwickelpils. The service was good, we were helped by two young ladies that spoke good english. The food was quite tasty and affordable (the lunch menu of the day was 5,40 euros if I remember right) Dinner choices seem a bit fancier thus pricier as well. The beer although served from a keg was quite tasty. Would return for sure.

Fortunately I didn’t overlook Eckerts during my stay. It’s a very lovely restaurant and the design of the building flows through effortlessly, with views of the river inside and out. The reason I came here was for the Ganstaller Zwickelpils which warranted numerous glasses. It was busy during the afternoon service however staff were great. It’s pricey to drink here (by way of Bamberg standards) but it’s a nice change of scenery regardless.

Nice located, nice interior, but lacks the atmosphere which you can find in many restaurants in Bamberg. Good beer though.

Visited twice in July 2013. The first visit was quite a nice one as I sat on the outside terrace over the river with its great views. I had a nice meal of spicy pork. The second time I went I only had a beer and when paying the waiter strangely asked that I should tip him. I doubt if he does that to German customers. I wanted to blown away by the Ganstaller Zwickl-Pils, but wasn’t.

Modern restaurant with Scandinavian inspired interior. Sitting outdoors, basically on the river was the way to do it on hot summer nights though. The 9 for service is for efficiency and friendliness, but let me just mention that the waitresses were also beautiful... The high rating is mostly based on the availability of Gänstaller Zwicklpils, which is a stunning beer. As Mads mentions, they ran out of it on our last night, and although the other beer we got that night was pretty boring, we could congratulate ourselves with a job well done! In the guest book on the mens room you’ll find my rating of Zwicklpils on July 1st...

Visited early afternoon and had a great lunch, sitting outside overlooking the canal.Friendly and service minded personel.
Ganstaller Zwikel on tap was very fresh and just what I needed after a long beer hunting walk. Modern interior, big restaurant with a perfect view, nice place for dinner as well.

Visited this place quickly, early on a Friday evening. Was very quiet, staff just milling around. Knowledgeable on beer and nice, good with English. Just caught me and a friend at a bad time. Only good and rare stuff on tap. Ambiance is modern, young and hip, in stark contrast to the regular brewpub haunts the city is known for. Definitely worth a visit. More food-focused I imagine, didn’t have time to try them. The beer was cheap too.

Modern restaurant in an old building with quite a special interior. Outside seating on a wide footbridge on the river Regnitz. Menu is a mix of classical local dishes and more modern and international food, reasonably priced. Good service and an eclectic beerlist from the region. House beer (just called Eckerts) is by Isabella Straub (3 Kronen Memmelsdorf), their unflitered pils is by Andreas Gänstaller (3 Kronen Schesslitz/Schnaid).
