One of the best brewpubs in Europe. One of my favourite brewers. Dont mis their yearly borefts beer festival where they have a collection of europes best breweries present included the swedish hard to get brewery Nrke! Excellent bottleshop.

This is a place worth going out of your way for. We were there at a very slow time and given excellent service by an incredibly friendly staff who knows their beer well. The bottle room is worth a visit on its own and is well-stocked with a few surprising treasures. The beer was reasonably priced, with only two disappointments out of about 15 that we tried (though none of their beer is bad!). The ambience, the service and the extraordinary craft beer makes de Molen an absolute must-see in Holland.

Update: November 17th visit. Yeah, One of three customer eating that day. Great Bierstoverij, I mean seriously, the dish was awesome. The beer shop was a treasure chest waiting to be opened, a load more bottles than my earlier visit in August. As always, great draft list and great service. Nice brewpub located in the very typical Dutch landscape. Five beers on tap while I visited, and plenty of De Molen beers to get at the store next door. Selection wise, all trhe DeMolen one could want. Food wise, the lunch menu was nice with regular pub grub and a local touch. Props for the DeMolen beer sausage and DeMolen mustard, just delicious stuff. Sandwhich was nice. Atmosphere, beautiful surroundings along the small canal, few locals drinking a beer or coffee. Inside is a look at the old mill with little decor. The outside area is the view on the parking lot and a garden store. Pricewise is very generous for the food as well as the beer on draft that ranged from 2,25 to 5 euros. Beerstore next door has plenty of DeMolen beers for sale that I found to be overpriced if drank at the bar. Some of the other imports are overpriced.

Fantastic place. Situated in this old traditional mill next to a beautifull canal. OPen the door from the restaurant and you wiull find that your almost in the canal. The staff is friendly and serves both beers and meals perfectly. The chef knows what he is doing, and the brewer defently does too. The selection in the beer store is great with beers from Mikkeller, Amager Ngne , Rouge, and other american brews. Off cause there is also the best selection of De Molen that youll find. Go there for dinner, for drinks or for buying your stuff. Very very nice

Perfect in so much ways. Just whish they could have a bigger selection on tap but the list of bottles makes up for that . Absolutely worths the detour.

A pinnacle beer experience. Getting there is easy--a short train ride from Leiden, though my friend biked there from The Hague (2 to 3 hours with a rental bike, getting lost a few times). Id recommend eating here--Peter is a brilliant chef, offering beautifully composed plates with a rich vocabulary of flavors. The tasting room had five beers on tap, one a guest from Denmark, and of course any bottle is available in the restaurant. Peter and his wife (sorry, Im terrible with names) are attentive, though when I was there the younger staff (the local teenage girls) were just learning the ropes of how to pour beers, with commensurate thin knowledge of the beer. The beer store is very good (Alesmith?!), though I was hoping to find a few more cellared, rare beers that are only available at the brewpub--though there are plenty of beers that are not available in the U.S. Prices are fair--it isnt like theyre dirt cheap, because you have to pay for quality. All in all, I will long remember this visit as one of the best meals Ive had, and certainly the best beer dinner ever. Save your pennies and spring for the food (30 euro for a three-course).

I had the fortune to share an evening here with a good friend and Peter Paul for de Molen. A truly wonderful evening I wont forget!
