96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 Balazs (36) Budapest, Hungary | October 11, 2011 I won’t be able to add much more to the reviews below. Visited during the festival, and the place was excellent. The festival itself was amazingly well organized, all went smoothly. The old brewery looked great, authentic, lots of ambience. The new brewery looked good as well. I really cannot complain about anything here. We had an awesome time. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 stoutpark (40) , Italy | May 22, 2012 A really good experience, in addition to the restaurant and the terrace outside to eat and drink excellent craft and fresh beer, there is also a beershop with a fine selection of bottles. The food is great. I had the chance to they the Lost Abbey’s Framboise de Amorosa. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 shaheen (8) , Netherlands | February 26, 2011 This is a place worth going out of your way for. We were there at a very slow time and given excellent service by an incredibly friendly staff who knows their beer well. The bottle room is worth a visit on its own and is well-stocked with a few surprising treasures. The beer was reasonably priced, with only two disappointments out of about 15 that we tried (though none of their beer is bad!). The ambience, the service and the extraordinary craft beer makes de Molen an absolute must-see in Holland. | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 claudepaulis (2) , Belgium | November 13, 2011| Updated March 18, 2012 I had a very good time at De Molen... Have a look at the beer shop
If you like De Molen beer... go to buy all the beer there | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 YULbier (250) Montreal, | May 18, 2012| Updated March 18, 2012 Perfect in so much ways. Just whish they could have a bigger selection on tap but the list of bottles makes up for that . Absolutely worths the detour. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 mach_y (1) , | August 14, 2012| Updated March 18, 2012 I had the fortune to share an evening here with a good friend and Peter Paul for de Molen. A truly wonderful evening I won’t forget! | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 19/20 Nuffield (103) Roseville, Minnesota | June 6, 2010 A pinnacle beer experience. Getting there is easy--a short train ride from Leiden, though my friend biked there from The Hague (2 to 3 hours with a rental bike, getting lost a few times). I’d recommend eating here--Peter is a brilliant chef, offering beautifully composed plates with a rich vocabulary of flavors. The tasting room had five beers on tap, one a guest from Denmark, and of course any bottle is available in the restaurant. Peter and his wife (sorry, I’m terrible with names) are attentive, though when I was there the younger staff (the local teenage girls) were just learning the ropes of how to pour beers, with commensurate thin knowledge of the beer. The beer store is very good (Alesmith?!), though I was hoping to find a few more cellared, rare beers that are only available at the brewpub--though there are plenty of beers that are not available in the U.S. Prices are fair--it isn’t like they’re dirt cheap, because you have to pay for quality. All in all, I will long remember this visit as one of the best meals I’ve had, and certainly the best beer dinner ever. Save your pennies and spring for the food (30 euro for a three-course). | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Glouglouburp (345) Montreal, Quebec | February 2, 2013 Only a cheap and short train ride away from Amsterdam (30 to 45 minutes?), visiting De Molen is a must if you spend more than one day in Amsterdam. The little quiet and apparently conservative village where De Molen is located is such a change of pace from the extra-liberal Amsterdam that it is almost like you’re in another country. The pub is a five minute walk from the gas station and is truly charming. As expected built in a windmill structure. Old, well-restored and inviting. A few tables on the side offers a front patio for less than 10 people. The inside is divided in two rooms, one is more pub and one more restaurant, and it can accommodate approximately 75 people. There was 6 beers on tap, all in perfect shape (unlike their bottles that often suffer carbonation issues) and all very good. Food is not elaborated but it is original and also very good, this is not your burger and fries pub. Also let’s not forget the Bottle Shop on your left when you walk in. Quite small but offers a surprisingly good selection, a lot more than just De Molen beers. I even bought there a rare Italian Saison (Toccalmatto Sibilla) because I’m a saison-whore. And also I wrote to the store a month before I came to put limited beers aside for me and when I got there my rare beers were there waiting for me. Staff couldn’t be more friendly and knowledgeable. If you can’t tell, I really loved that place. A must. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 20/20 kermis (84) The Hague, Netherlands | December 23, 2010 Simply amazing Dutch brewery with a world class selection of there own beers, a small but well stocked beer store and host of the yearly Borefts beer festival - the best I’ve been to. Don’t miss it! | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 mao (43) , Italy | August 5, 2011 Sitio lindo, nada especial pero si te encanta cerveza pues tienes que venir aqui porque si no probaste de molen, no probaste nada. |
