This may be my new favorite place in Louisville. The beer selection makes this a notable establishment. When I went, there was a Nogne, at least one Hammerheart (which had just entered the market at that time), and several other really interesting selections. A good mix of local, regional and world.
They call the food "German comfort food." I donít know enough about German food to verify its authenticity, but I really enjoyed it. It seemed to be a sort of mix of German and Southern American, which is right up my alley.
Prices are very reasonable, both for the food and beer. For food, there are several items under $10, while most of the entrees remain under $15. For beer, I actually had two of the Hammerhearts they had on tap at Sergioís the day before (never been sure why people get so excited about that place), and they were $2 per glass cheaper here. So thereís that... The ambiance is like eating in someoneís house, in a good way. Open floor plan with close tables, intimate vibe, nice old wood floors and a high ceiling. A long bar as well, though no one was sitting there when we came on a Sunday evening, but I would go back and sit at the bar, certainly. Itís great that they have such a good restaurant in this historic neighborhood, where you would likely never otherwise venture. Service was good enough. Definitely a sort of "hipster" place, but you donít feel out of place if youíre not a hipster.

Visited early evening on a Wednesday. I really liked the design of this place, open and bright, with really beautiful wood tables and a gorgeous bar. They featured an assorted selection of 21 taps, a nice mixture of well chosen German, Belgian and local craft beers. I also had the Duck Fat popcorn and the Pretzel sticks. Service was friendly and attentive. Overall, I really liked the vibe of this place, very comfortable place to hang out and have a beer. The food looked great, next visit I will try to have a full meal here.

Definitely an old German beer house feel to it, really nice looking. The food is a little pricey but absolutely fantastic and worth every penny. Friendly staff and they have a decent amount of brews available as well. If you havenít been, do yourself a favor and go check it out. Great place!

Long room with a big old wooden bar with a tile mirrored barback, some benches in back and lots of tables. Focused and interesting beer list and menu. Beers on tap were a unique blend of US and international. Great food, good service.

This place is a mix of old German beer hall with some modern metallic touches; reclaimed wood tables balanced by dark metallic chairs, for instance. There is a "man-cave" portion with darts and a nice size TV- the main dining area is without TV (if that matters to you). Service was polite, helpful and not too helicopter-ish. Selection of beer is a very nice mix of about 25 on tap beers; some local (Country Boy, ATG) and with a variety of styles, by country and type. Food was awesome; portions were great (not too big or small)- the mushroom bisque was very nice and goat cheese crepes were a wonderful second course. Some of the prices (food) are maybe slightly high, but Iíd gladly pay them again. Beer was very fair in price. Worth many returns.

Went on a Wednesday night with my wife. Parking in on the street and may be challenging. Atmosphere is nice rustic. Service was good, I was sucking down the waers and she was on it. They did not have a sampler on the menu, however I explained the concept to the owner and she made it happen. The selection was nothing special, however they did have several I had not tried before. All of the selections I saw were draft, so I donít even know if they have a bottle selection. The rabbit was good and the peach cobbler is phenominal. My wife likes this place even more than me, so we will likely be back.

25 beers on tap, great food, nice neighborhood, stumbling distance to the Nachbar, awesome service, hip ambiance... Just go there and see it for yourself. This place beats the crap out of the other trendy restaurants that the east end collar poppers tend to invade.
Food is worlds apart from the others in Louisville.

Love the place! All of their beers are craft/imports with the exception of Strohís. the variety is notable as well though the quantity is limited. Food is German heavy and the ingredients as local as it can get. Portions are light, but very tasty. Fairly pricy but itís worth it. Staff is young and knowledgeable. Again, love the place!
