Small but very pleasant pub with a good selection. Dark Star beers are great anyway.

First drank in here back in 92/93 time and have paid a visit whenever in Brighton over the years, most recently in May ’11. Dark Star tap with guests. Always well kept and always good service, a proper beer crowd. Also dropped on a winter beer fest here in Dec ’02 - not sure how regular these are. In Brighton = visit!

Great beach beer bar. Four taps of Dark Star; friendly wait staff willing to give samples, knowledgable on the beer. Good real cider choices too

One of my favourite Brighton Pubs. Why? a good atmosphere and a traditional old pub feel made all the merrier by a good selection of Local Ales and a huge selection of Bottled wonders from Belgium, Germany, The states and beyond. Get there early if you want a table as this place is always lively by about 6pm.

Visited on a day out in Brighton earlier in the year. Lovely, welcoming pub just a stones throw from the station. Exciting beers from round the country such as Summer Wine and Magic Rock, as well as local/national favourite Dark Star. Many pints of the newly released Revelation ensued, thus a great evening indeed. Beer is kept in such wonderful condition here, props to Matt & Karen, such brilliant landlords.Friendly local crowd and even spotted a few familiar faces from London. Oh, and staff were well accommodating.

We (me & Loz) visited here Saturday 5th May 2012, it was my first visit for almost twenty years and do you know what this pub is still wonderful, absolutely top notch. Dark Star Revelations, Dark Star Six Hop, Magic Rock Carnival, the beer choice was superb. This place was rammed we were there between 2-3pm! standing room only and even on a fairly grim and wetish day the couple of tables outside were full, we sat outside and had a wonderful conversation with a couple of chaps from Lewes who had optimistically gone to watch the cricket. The bar staff were very friendly, worked like trojans and when I noted that they had Magic Carnival coming on next they went and got me a taster from the cellar, tbh they needn’t have bothered as it came on within the next ten minutes and so we stopped for a further beer. I really, really like the Cask Pub and Kitchen it is a fantastic addition to the Brighton pub scene but this place is still the place to beat, great beer in great nick, it is just excellent. I had my photo taken outside here twenty years ago by Loz (when we weren’t yet together) my photo was taken again in the same spot, but believe me it isn’t just nostalgia about this pub, it truly is a great place.

A wonderful pub with a great selection of foreign beers, as well as cask beers from Dark Star and guests from other breweries. It’s quite small, so it is even better when you visit at quieter times.

This is a very nice little pub close to the train station. (It was the original location of one of England’s more popular breweries - Dark Star). The brick-walled room is small with about 5 wooden tables on a wood floor with the bar back to the right. The atmosphere was very relaxed and casual with music playing in the background. It attracts a younger friendly crowd who likes their beer - I ended up chatting with a local over a few pints. The selection was quite good, including 4 Dark Star beers on cask. I wish I could’ve stayed longer to enjoy a few more pints. The Evening Star requires a visit if you’re in the Brighton area.
