Iíve had quite a few Dancing Duck beers, and found them to be decent on the whole, so I was happy to visit this establishment. Itís fairly food-intensive but that doesnít stop it from feeling like a proper pub. Multi-roomed, and yes there are some areas that are dining only, but the old-fashioned feel makes me not mind so much. Anyway... the beer. Five Dancing Duck beers complemented by Pedigree and another guest (today it was Hairy Helmet from Leatherbritches). Some worthwhile if not mind-blowing bottles, and cans from Camden Town (and their Hells is on keg tap). Not hungry but I wish I was as there are some amazing bar snacks (fruity black pudding, mustard-glazed sausages and the like). Best of the five pubs in Derby Iíve visited thus far today.

Visited on 21st May 2016. Back street boozer which has as much of a focus on food as beer. Several rooms with wood partitions and plenty of seating. Place is very popular and we managed to get a table just! Beer range from Dancing Duck plus a small craft offering in fridge. Beer was well kept. Not too expensive. Itís a nice place. Food looked good but didnít try it as it over double the price of the Smithfield.

A former street-corner basic boozer that has moved upmarket. Has a range of 6/7 beers including 3/4 from Dancing Duck. Very popular and can sometimes be difficult to find a seat. Beware the tables reserved many hours beforehand !

A lovely cosy place with several small rooms, lots of dark wood and candles and a very nice patio. They had mainly Dancing Duck beers plus a few guests. (Visited 15 February 2015).

Only one minute further down the same street as where The Tap (Derby Brewing) is located. Charming and homely cottage-like pub. Obvious very popular among families for food on Sundays. Impossible to find a table at the eating session. Lots of kids running around. We sat down by the fire place in one of the drinking rooms. Core range of beers from Dancing Duck, four of them, added by guest ales. Surely a great pub to visit but not at prime dinner time on Sundays. Inattentive service (Visited 22.02.2015).

Visited february 2015 with beery friends. Older multiroomed townpub, cosy and close to city center. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Few Dancing Duck beers on as well as guest. Beers served in good condition. Rather busy this sunday..

I would come back here just for the food which was very excellent by pub standards. Prices may be a bit higher than elsewhere. However you get what you pay for in the form of an excellent burger.

The cask ale selection is mainly in house (Dancing Duck) though I recall a few guest taps. None of them were disappointing including a fine pint of Ey Up. Out back are quieter rooms and a patio for those who wish to brave the weather. If doing a crawl of Derby this place should be visited en route to the Flower Pot and Furnace Inn.

We visited here on Saturday 23rd February after Derby Winter Beer Festival with my dad and Pauline, Simon (Haddonsman) was also here for the rugby and I note that he had a Thornbridge Chiron which was on keg. The place was buzzing with a large group of people watching England v France in the 6 Nations, so it was either standing room only or head out to the covered lean to which we did until Lozís hands turned white with cold. Beer range was good with Dancing Duck beers along with the odd guest, we all had a decent Liverpool Organic Simcoe Pale (think?) There was a roaring fire opposite the bar and from this leads off to a room to the far end and a larger room at the back, there may have been more rooms but it was just to busy to go exploring. Friendly pub, decent beer and close enough to others to be considered in a crawl.

A very cozy pub with many pictures on the wall. Not so many beers on tap when I visited but very friendy landlord told that he would like to have more real ales to serve. Must check up next time (2010).
