82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 soyorganic (24) Denver, Colorado | August 27, 2008 Great beer selection many Colorado favorites. Food is decent and they have a veggie burger. Patio seating and big screen TV. Sports bar and dive bar feel, not Lodo-esque. Great place to hang out. Better priced than Old C’s. Best beer bar in Denver. Check it out. | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 12/20 BartC (31) Lichtaart, Belgium | June 13, 2013 A typical American style of bar. Good beer list and the food wasn’t bad. Less satisfied I was with the staff. Not really friendly. We planned to have dinner in that place but after two beers and some snacks decided to take our business somewhere else. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 jmikolich (87) North Ridgeville, Ohio | April 8, 2013 Its hard to not be impressed by the tap list at this place, but its also easy to look around and see the grime and filth covering the walls. Stopped on a Friday night after a 2pm Rockies game (I wasnt there) and thie place was still decently busy, no available tables, no wait staff to assist us in any way, we meandered to the bar and ordered a round of beers, Some Crooked Stave Surrette for me, a Stone Enjoy By for my friend, and an unknown hefeweizen for his g/f bar staff was prompt and efficient, going directly to the sporadicly laid out tap handle. Price is on par with a beer bar of this caliber, downstairs to the billiards room and dart room yields several "VIP" style rooms with no one in them, and a pool table with only 8 pool balls? So they serve world class beer, PtE, Blind Pig, Crooked Stave etc but have slow service and outdated decor cramped spaces. | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 11/20 DYCSoccer17 (277) Woodland, California | April 2, 2013 I was here last weekend, and this place is small and crowded. Don’t count on getting a seat. Staff is slow, and not overly attentive. They have a decent tap selection with plenty of local beers that are ok, and a few other regional beers. The only mind-blowing thing about this place was the bottle collections on the walls. They have a decent bottle selection, but I have no clue if the prices are fair or not. I was supremely disappointed by this establishment, and I went there twice, and was bummed both times I went. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Denverdiv (12) Denver, Colorado | February 8, 2013 Drink your favorite beers before you eat anything Cajun! Not sure if the cook over-spiced my burger, I think a weaker man would have needed an ambulance... Delicious regardless of my face melting. There were a couple beers they poured as 1/2 pints that were not listed as half pint on the menu. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 MAFountain (7) Cedar Rapids, Iowa | January 12, 2013 Easy to get to, and a huge selection of tap beers, and bottles. This place is a beer geeks paradise. Coming from Iowa and seeing this place first hand makes one quite jealous actually.
The bartender was extremely knowledgeable, and had 14 years of service in for them. Constant recommendations that were spot on for less seasoned members of our group.
As far the the food, and I only tried the 420 Wings, and they were great.
I will be making a second trip back here before I head back home. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 sonnycheeba (65) Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland | January 11, 2013 One of my favorite bars in the country. Even in downtown Denver where good beer bars and brewpubs are all over, this one definitely stands out. Great selection of taps and bottles with slight emphasis on Colorado beers, so people visiting the state have plenty to try. Dim, relaxed atmosphere with tables and couches for socializing while you drink. Modest food menu, but it does the job. Great staff that know their beer and the special cellar releases, along with their events during GABF, make this a favorite for locals. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 jackl (215) London, England | November 16, 2012 Falling Rock has a pretty run-down vibe to it. There’s a few plasma screens playing sports, broken pool tables in the basement, some neon lights outside. The clientele seemed more bro than beer geek. Some douche at the table next to me kept loudly declaring how much he was ready to start a brawl (cool story, bro). The selection was big, but not particularly eye-opening. The Beer Menu acutally included a note apologizing for the selection because of the GABF rush, so maybe it’s usually better. The service was decent, curious. My bartender was a bit of a dick at first, but he apologized after I ordered my second beer, so no worries. The value was fine. Overall, Falling Rock’s a pretty good place. I think I visited on one of their off nights. I’m sure if I visited at other times of the year it’d be even better. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Ibrew2or3 (301) Tempe, Arizona | October 20, 2012 Beer mecca, eh? Cool looking space with patio and inside seating. The bad; way too few seating options. I went there right after they opened and every conceivable seating option was already gone. Also, it’s nearly impossible to tell what’s on tap as you need to figure it out by identifying the tap handles from 10 to 15ft away. If there are beer menus I couldn’t find one. The good; What I was able to figure out and order was solid and even with this place packed out it took about 10 minutes to get a beer which is pretty amazing considering the size of the crowd. I love the atmosphere (except how rammed it gets does hinder the experience) and the worn in wood interior and airy patio space. I guess my ultimate goal will be to get here and actually have a place to sit, soak in the atmosphere and enjoy a stellar brew one of the next times I’m lucky enough to be in town. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 nbutler11 (305) Phoenix, Arizona | October 19, 2012 Unsure how I hadn’t rated this legendary spot before. Revisited during GABF for Dr. Bill’s tasting. Place was mobbed. Beer selection was beyond respectable both upstairs and downstairs. Staff were working their ass off. There’s a reason it’s got such a great reputation. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 gnoff (257) Mölndal, Sweden | October 8, 2012| Updated November 1, 2012 Visited on October 7, 2012. Nice big selection of taps. We only stuck around for one beer since we were in a hurry, but I’ll try and go back since it seemed a very nice place indeed. Did not eat.
Visited again on October 12 same year, stayed for more beers this time. Didn’t eat. Very crowded, mainly due to beer week? Fast service at the bar, on and off fast by the tables, but always helpful and good. Huge tap list. I can see why this place is so popular. Easy to walk to from central downtown Denver. |
