Great place with a nice selection. Best to go during off hours if yu donít want a big crowd with cramped seating. As with most south side places, this place packs as much seating in as possible to maximize profit. Thatís the point of running a business so thereís nothing wrong with that. Great selection of beers, the food is good quality for bar food and the atmosphere, even in the off hours, is awesome. Give this place a parking lot and Iím there all the time

Parking on street only, so it is not easy. Good mix of 20 somethings and 30 somethings for the most part. My sandwich was the size of my head and was very good pulled pork. the onion rings were great. There is a bar on the front left. The rest is tables for food. The place was busy, but we got a seat right away. Service was good and food was brought pretty quickly. They have a shop up stairs with a limited number of fat heads six-packs and other beers which they have a paper list of, and some fat heads paraphernalia. They had a selection of fat heads and other beers on draft. They donít have a sampler though. Really good time, hope to go back.

The atmposhere is very good as the place gets a nice mixed crowd of different people. The quality of the beers that they have are a solid lineup of guest taps and 5 FH taps brewed from their Cleveland location. The service is very good as the wait staff are very friendly, attentive, and always take care of you timely. The selection is outstanding as they feature about 35 guest taps and 5 taps of FH...these taps are a mixed bag of different styles of beers from across the country, a good variety. The food was above average and worth the price of what you pay. Overall, Fat Heads will become a serious stop every time I come back to the steel city. If you have never been to either fat heads location, check them out when in the areas.

This bar has the best beer selection in Pittsburgh. They have numerous taps, including ~5 of the Fat Head house beers, and they get the most interesting/unique kegs available in the Pittsburgh area. They also offer a few Arsenal ciders regularly. The one downside to the place is that it is almost always crowded. I remember once they had a special firkin of Sierra Nevada Celebration and I arrived 30 minutes after it was tapped - it had already kicked. So bear this in mind when you visit, especially if itís during game time. It has a sports bar kind of theme, but is also very family friendly. There is outdoor patio seating available (which is covered in the winter). The food menu is a bit more extensive than your typical bar - their specialty is sandwiches. Watch out, their portions are HUGE. Overall, the best place for beer in Pittsburgh but if youíre looking for a more cozy, intimate setting this may not be the place for you.

Stopped in for dinner and a few beers a couple of nights ago. Pretty cool building that always seems really busy. Was a able to grab a stool at the bar where I had 3 Fat Head beers that were all solid. They had 12 or so of their own offerings and at least as many guest taps. Nothing rare, but a solid tap list none-the-less. Mine only gripe with this place was the food. Everything that I saw come to the bar looked great, but I went with a buffalo shrimp appetizer which was horrible, and a buffalo chicken sandwich which was disappointing as well. i am going to stop in again before I leave town to try another sandwich as like I said the offer food I saw looked great.

When I visited: Late summer 2012.
What I had: East End Big Hop Harvest Ale (cask), Yards General Washington Tavern Porter (draught), Fat Headís Head Hunter IPA (draught), The Duck-Rabbit Brown Ale (draught), South Side Slopes headwich.
What I liked: Bustling approachable atmosphere, friendly patrons, massive well-organized beer list, efficient and welcoming bartenders, delicious world-beating sandwiches, great retail store upstairs, mind-blowing IPA.
What I disliked: Aside from having to wait a few minutes for our seats, nothing really.
Would I go back? Definitely.

How I missed going to this place eludes me. On the South Side with cheap parking just across the street. A ton of taps, all solid craft beers. Loads of Fat Headís stuff, maybe 10. A small expensive bottle shop upstairs. The food looked great, I didnít partake. Lively, good service and relaxed. A great place. The bartender offered a few samples as well.
