I hate giving a place such a low score when I had amazing beer and the best burger EVER! But the attitude of these people makes me not want to go back. But I will.

There is something to be said for a place that was doing it before the trend and kept on doing it right all along. Snobby...? Maybe but I don’t care. It’s a great looking place with delicious beer and food. I guess if I walked in off the street not knowing anything about FO I might have a different impression, but I’ve been going for years and I know what to expect.

Best burger I’ve ever had. there, i said it! Beer is fantastic with a great selection and lots of variety. it was cool long before craft beer was in these parts. So, why only 86? The attitude. I’m not a beer expert or a beer snob, i just love yummy beer and this place makes me feel like I’m not good enough because I’m not sure of the hop variety in my IPA. Booo It’s just not that comfortable, and comfort is the number one thing for me when I’m drinking beer. I’ll go back but it’s not the most satisfying place.

Visited here for a quick pint, whilst in LA a few years back. Arrived about 5.00 and it was already standing room only. In fact when we left, about 6.00, they were queuing down the street to get in, which I thought was a bit over the top. Some attractive looking choices on tap - I had a Pliny the Elder or Younger (until I locate my missing notebook, which one of the two will remain a mystery). OKish place, but I do like to have a nice sit down to sup my pints, and at 5.00 I would usually expect to get one. A bit over hyped perhaps.

Dropped by on a visit to Santa Barbara. I guess this is the best beer bar in the area. The selection includes many very good beers, but nothing rare on tap or in bottles. The highlight is of course talking to dirtymartini, a fantastic homebrewer who works there.

A nice little spot, very hip, and tucked into an obscure mall in Santa Monica. NOT in the posh "3rd street promenade" area of Santa Monica. The inside is slickly lit, with perfectly polished wood countertops and an attractive beer tap lineup. I didn’t get to try any of the food while I was there, but it looked pretty tasty. For Los Angeles, this place is very decent. The good: a rotating, seemingly hand-selected array of craft and imported beers. The bad: the prices (most are $8 and up for a pint), the seen-y ambiance of it all. I’d go back, but only if I happened to be in the area.

If this place were in my neighborhood, I would be there every night I left the house. Outstanding selection of beers, tremendously low-key, low-light, and intimate place. Friendly staff who know their stuff and don’t condescend. Guests who are looking for good beer rather than focused on looking good -- that scene at the other FO. A pity this jewel is across the country from me. Alesmith, Russian River, Pizza Port and Maredsous 6 on tap.

A lot smaller than what I thought it was going to be. Sat at the bar and had both food and drinks. Nice tap selection with Alesmith Summer Yulesmith, 3 Russian River brews including RTE, 2 Oskar Blues and some other really nice brews. Had the burger which has great. Service was good and had a really nice feel to it. My only complaint would be that it is a little expensive for what it is. 2 beers and a burger and fries cost me $35 with tip included. Not mind blowing but not cheap either. Nice place though and would visit often if I lived in the area.
