I used to go here after the current owner put in the new beer system and craft beers but before he began to serve food. At that time, FO was the best beer bar ever. A perfect place to while away a weekend afternoon and evening with a few pints. As soon as the Office Burger hit, that Fatherís Office died, replaced by the current version. This place is overrun with hip, loud people eating Office Burgers left and right with glasses of water or wine or perhaps some of the least adventurous beer pours from the bar, all the while posting messages on the web that there needs to be a reservation system or table service or that valet parking should be offered. Thereís no denying that this place has helped touch off a food and beer revolution in LA, but it is an obnoxious, unfriendly place to visit now. Even though the new bartenders are perfectly fine, I prefer the old crew from 6 or 7 years ago. The owner also stopped rotating the beer taps as frequently. They seem to have settled in to a regular bunch with only a few changes now and then. Overall, Iíd rather have a beer at home or just about any of places inspired by FO (Lucky Devilís, Boneyard Bistro, The Otheroom, 3rd Stop) now than go to what was once my favorite beer bar.

Used to go here in the early 90s - it was so cool. Only place you could get all the Anchor beers, Rogue, etc. Old School. Things have changed! They serve good food for sure and that along with sexier bartenders and livelier music have made Fatherís Office quite the busy busy place. Unfortunately, itís just not the classic beer geek place it once was.

This was my first visit to Fathers Office. They had probable 25 beers on tap, a lot of American, some Belgian and German. I had a Hop Rod with a burger. The burger was one of the best i have had in a long time and the beer went great with it. I did not get to interact with the bartenders much but the service was good and they seemed knowledgeable. This place gets busy and is small so get there early.

I went in the late 1990s, as I recall, and Fatherís Office was extremely cool with decor like an old-fashioned office. The beer list at that time was quite impressive.

This place was cool. Not too many special beers on draft, but some cool stuff nonetheless. The food was fantastic. Amazing burger, awesome cheese plate. A fun place to kick it. I got fucking smashed!

what to say....yes it can get really busy. at times, annoyingly busy. however, the food is amazing. great tapa style appetizers and a small selection of "big foods". the burger is easily the best ive ever had. truly unique. they offer mostly common belgians, west coast micros, and seasonals. staff is knowledgable about all their product. they can tell you what beer to pair with whatever food you may be ordering. great beer menu with descriptions of each beer to help you make your choice...if still unsure the staff will steer you in the right direction. my favorite beer bar in los angeles.

Great selection of beers. A very small place, so best to go at off hours if you really want to enjoy the beers. Had a lot of Alesmith and Russian River on tap, which was great since we donít get that here in Washington state. This is definitely the best beer bar in the LA area, in my opinion.

A great beer bar with about 40 beers on tap. Russian River, Unibroue, Alesmith, and Rogue headline a superb selection. The decor is woody and understated yet elegant. The Office Burger is a world beater. Donít miss it. Be prepared to wait in line, as the plave only seats about forty.

This being my second visit to Fathers office, I am VERY, VERY, VERY disappointed. This place is not really a beer bar, it is just a bar with a lot of different beers. To me what qualifies as a beer bar is among others; staff that knows about beer. The staff at fathers office are very, very nice people and maybe they know about American beer (I donít know all that much, so I canít tell if they do), but they havenít got a clue about Belgium beers. They donít even know the basics and here I mean what is actually written on the label. I was served an ICE COLD Rochefort 10 (are these people trying to ruin a beer that has traveled this far), in the wrong glass (it cant be that hard to get the right glass, not even in the US). Another person had a Triple Karmeliet also served ice cold (it is warm in California, but serve the beer right please), and then it was served without a head. It was served in the right glass though, the glass is not supposed to be full of beer(the liquored part), but beer and head when it is served. If this place should be recognized as a beer bar they could at least read the labels of the beer they serve. It seams that they are not interested in beer at all, just the fancy part of it (having a lot of different beers and not really knowing how to serve it). They serve the BEST burger!!!!!!
