Excellent Altbier so nothing else needed if you’re a beer drinker rather than a ticker. The food is pretty good, although their Schweinehaxe doesn’t compare with that a Im Fuchschen. Although it is easier to collect your tick for Schuhmacher Alt at the Goldenen Kessel in Bolkerstrasse, this place merits a short hop on the U Bahn to Oststrasse.

The most beautiful of the Düsseldorf places I visited, serving the VERY, VERY best food. A world class beer bar / restaurant.

My first altbier experience was a good one - their 1838 is a hopped-up altbier not to be missed! Friendly good service

Wooden tables. Service was very good. They had clown decorations because of Karnival being soon. Place was pretty empty at 4.30 on a Monday. There were a few tables reserved for later. I really enjoyed the beer there. They had two on tap. They mark the coaster with how many beers you have like in Köln. I liked both beers. You could also get 1L bottles to go. €1,90 for ,25. Ended up being my favorite alt beer and place.

Visited on a Thursday afternoon. Huge traditionnal German beer hall with a beautiful interior and nice attention to details. Beautiful place. Service was quick and quite nice. Selection was of two beers on tap (Alt and 1838er), not sure if there were bottles. The 1838er was the best Alt I had in Düsseldorf by a fair margin. We didn’t try the food except a small cheese platter that was quite good. Prices were in line with the other Dûsselforf Alt. A very nice place to visit that is definitely worth a stop even if not located near the 4 others. If I’m in the area again someday, I will be back.

Away from the busy Altstadt, about half way to the main station. This is in my top 3 must visits in Dusseldorf. The very traditional drinking hall has loads of character, as does the excellent Alt bier.

The Schumacher brewery and restaurant, on the edge of the inner city, an easy walk from the main station. Very nice traditional interior, lots of space. In the back is a courtyard that can be (partly) covered, behind that is the brewery. Altbier, plus Jung (a lighter version) and of course three times a year the Latzenbier, a stronger version. Recommended.

Stopped in for an alt and enjoyed myself. I liked their alt a lot. They have the tables you can stand at outside so you can enjoy a beer or two in 25 cl glasses and move on to your next stop. Right near the train station. Was my favorite alt, seemed a bit drier than the others.

This brewpub is a little bit beside the lively city center and Altstadt, therefore it ain’t that much visited like other brewpubs you might see in Düsseldorf. The interior is in its own way very charming, but little bit cold and with low atmosphere. The staff was really nice and friendly, our daughter was welcomed very warmly. It was possible to buy their bottled beers there and this for a fair price. Good and solid place, but nothing spectacular.
