What a find! My wife and I were on our way back from wine tasting and saw this on ratebeer and stopped by. In an industrial park but inside is a killer taproom and an active brewery. 8 beers on tap which was nice and they had a Davy Brown Ale which was great as a brown fan. All the beers were well above average and well balanced. I guess they are a newer brewery but already have 4 gold medals. Stout and Pale have great flavor. My wife and I will make sure we stop in again.

A true gem on the Central Coast, this little brewery only one year old is putting out some of the most fantastic brews around. In only this short amount of time they have won multiple gold medals at different International Festivals in 4 different categories. The brewery has a very home feel to it with the local regulars "muggers" enjoying the brews along with plenty of newbies. The Stagecoach Stout they serve on Nitro so it comes out nice and silky smooth with an amazing chocolate and espresso finish. My favorite is the Hoppy Poppy IPA. More of a session IPA with a nice grapefruit type aftertaste. The Davy Brown Ale was most of my friends favorite but the big surprise was the Danish Red. WOW! Awesome finish to this brew. We were pleased to see they have most all of these in bottles for purchase (except the Hoppy Poppy which they said will be in bottles in 2 weeks). If you are driving up through the Central Coast, make sure not to miss this spot on your trip. Youíll be glad you did!

Little hidden gem. Heard about it from an awards list at San Diego Beer Festival. Thought I would try their Stout, was very impressed. Place was well equipped, trained staff. Beers were very good across the board. Pale ale was well balanced. More of a session beer in class but great malt balance. They had a Danish Red Lager that had to be the biggest surprise to me since I was expecting a sugary beer but it was very crisp great finish. One of the better CA beers outside of the mecca down here in San Diego. Going back for a wedding will stop back by.

Tucked away in a small town off the 101 is a great little gem. Great pub/bar atmosphere. Nicely decorated. Clean and really well done. I would love to call this my hometown brewery.

Interesting place. An outdoor seating area out front, a small lobby area with some couches and another area just before the bar with some tables. Fairly small bar, but lots of space and tables in the main tasting room area. They had a live band playing. The service was pretty quick and friendly. Flights of 4 beers were $6. Beers on the whole were just okay, but all were something you could drink a glass of. Interesting "old western" decor, too.

We visited the place late 2011, they just celebrated their first year. Nice looking brewery with a great tap room. Beers were very tasty, considering the brewery was so new in business, very impressive. This brewery might have a bright future.

My fiancee and I both loved the rustic look. Lots of wood and corrugated steel. It felt very homey, half industrial, half farmhouse. As a homebrewer, I liked that you could see their brewing operations from your seat at the bar.
For a new brewery, I was impressed with the ambitiousness of their selection, including two different kinds of lagers and a smoked stout. The smoked stout was fantastic. The Hoppy Poppy IPA was Simcoe heaven. I couldnít recommend it highly enough.
They get demerits for not having two of their most popular beers available at the time of our visit (though some growing pains are expected). Also the hostess, though friendly and attentive, could not answer most of the detailed brewing questions I had, so they lose points there.
Still, this was a very pleasant surprise and one of the best breweries I have been too. It is definitely worth the trip just for the Hoppy Poppy. But the ambiance and selection put it over the top.

Finally made it here for my first time yesterday (12/21/12). Iíve been trying for a while, basically since they opened.
This place was pretty nice, maybe not a in the expensive restaurant sense but as a brewery that doesnt serve food I had a lot of fun. There was a band playing some blues as well as the obligatory Christmas songs, free pretzels, friendly servers, and plenty of drunk asses Advocating hard. There is also a bit of random stuff on the walls like the history of the nail or history of fencing materials.
There were 12 taps, a few bottles for takeaway, growlers, and souvenier glasses available. The IPAs were the best beers hands down. Some of the others were interesting like the red lager and the brown ale. The second anniversary unfortunately was not very good on tap, though I had it a few weeks earlier from the bottle at Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest and it was considerably better then. Prices on flights are moderately high. We paid $18 + tip on 12 samples.
There was a food truck outside and plenty of free pretzels and mustard inside. Decent amount of seating and even a couch in the lobby area. With 12 taps Iíll make sure to stop in again some time. Itís also just a few miles (about 4) from Solvang Brewing.

Itís located in an unassuming, non-touristy area of Buellton. It has undergone an evolution of sorts, at key times in its development. Itís owned by a local person, which allows him to be in touch with the community. When I first starting patronizing the brewpub (Feb í11), there were never more than a handful of people there. With the beerís exploding popularity, itís nearly impossible to find a seat now on a weekend. The wait staff is patient and attentive. However, there simply may be too few of them to handle the demand at times. The overall pleasant and patient personality of the wait staff parallels that of the manager, Dave, who is a British gentleman who has experience in the brew pub industry. Fig. Mtn.ís mug club was a brilliant idea and has morphed into itís own fraternal sub-culture. There is certainly some envy of club members without the conceit from members. Thereís plenty of social involvement--even among members and non-members. While membership is exclusive, it is not necessarily the result of VIP, power, or wealth. Itís more due to luck, being in the know, and perhaps being in the right place at the right time. The way itís been explained to me is that nearly immediately after the brew pub opened in Fall 2010, the waitlist for the mug club was pages deep. Pints of anything Fig. Mtn. has are available. They have bombers to take with you and they also sell growlers at a reasonable price. But, the sampler flights are very popular. Particularly among non-mug club members and tourists. The brewer, AJ Stoll, a Santa Cruz Banana Slug and former dorm room homebrewer is a genius. This is one of those rare occasions where a local business owner pairs up with a subject matter expert who likely far surpasses any expectations the owner had at the businessís inception. Good for them and great for us, the consumers. Lastly, I like that Fig. Mtn. is in an anonymous area of town. It has now added a beer garden to the east side of their building. All outdoors with some grass, fire pits, adirondack chairs, picnic tables, umbrellas for shade, a bocce ball court, horseshoe pits, and a stage for live music. This has immensely improved the atmosphere, hence my increase in the rating, in addition to the space issue that was becoming a problem.
