Nice building. An old fire station turned into a brewpub. Service was friendly but unfortunately the beers were very average at best. 9 beers on tap and a flight of 9 beers available. Wifi was working. I didnít eat.
Sunday afternoon at 4pm the one barmaid was backed up. We waited a bit for her to catch up. No time for beer talk. Itís a nice looking place. About 8 of their beers on tap. I heard the stout was the best, so I had that.
Review from July 2010 - There are a few good things going on 1) the staff are genuinely proud of their brews (even though they are mostly very average). The people I was with didnít make it convenient for me to rate any beers, so the place rating will do. Food is normal tgi Friday/Applebee fare, maybe a little greasier and heavier. There was a paraphernalia shop upstairs, but the girl working it didnít know I was there, so I left. The service was adequate, except when my party (not beer drinkers) wanted refills on soda, they couldnít get anyoneís attention. Very average, which is the same response I had when visiting in 1993.

Cool building in downtown Rapid City. Has an old school brewpub feel. Only 5 beers on tap with limited selection. Had a burger and side salad which were below average. Leaves a lot to be desired. $24 for a beer and burger of average at best quality. Money would have been better spent at Independent ale house.
What a dreadful place! Itís like Applebeeís as a brewpub. I hate brewpubs that seem more interested in branding than in delivering a good experience. They had 8 beers on tap and most of them were dreadful. The food I was served was an overpriced, oversauced pike of stodgy crap. And I canít believe this place is so successful they can support a whole retail store that sells their branded tchotchkes. Easily one of the worst brewpubs Iíve visited.
Stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon. I hate to be too harsh on one of South Dakotaís few brewpubs, but I was really underwhelmed. Waitress was not very friendly, the feel of the place wasnít great, and the beer was pretty poor. Downtown Rapid City is actually quite interesting, so that is the one positive. Maybe I just had a bad experience, so Iíll probably give them another shot next time Iím passing through the area.
The place seemed a little too busy for its britches on the busy times and slow as hell the other 20 hours of the day, but the food was good! The beer was pretty good but not my favorite but not bad at all! My man Lorn took great care of two out of town motorcyclist, even better service then the manager could muster must mention his name for that! all and all FBC is worth the time to visit! The snitzel is HUGE! and the fish and chips hit the spot! The stout was very good too.
Incredible building, but thatís where the joy ends. Five beers on tap, one was actually nice and the rest varied from mediocre to terrible. I had the buffalo burger, which was overcooked and dry. Seems like they just arenít interested in the beer or the food.
