Serves traditional German style beers by the brewery. Lively atmosphere, crowded and fun. Worth visiting in Basel. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 Dogbrick (567) Columbus, Ohio | June 10, 2012 (Visited in 11/2011): Fischerstube is located on Rheingasse between the Wettsteinbrücke and Mittlere Brücke, about a block away from the Rhein.
The interior is narrow with a small bar on the left side and table seating on the right. There is an eclectic collection of artwork and stamped metal. Brewing equipment is visible in the rear.
Fischerstube has 4 of their beers on tap, under the Ueli brand and include a Hefe, Dunkel and a couple Helles style. It appeared there was a bottled beer available as well. All of the beers are decent.
Service on our visit was good. We showed up literally at opening time and as was the case with most of our visits the staff was able to navigate the language barrier and get us beer, and were friendly.
We did not try any food on our visit.
Overall this is a nice spot in a quaint neighborhood and was well worth the walk from where our river cruise docked. | 64 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Bov (64) Bienne, Switzerland | March 20, 2012 Good quality german-style beers. A nice traditional brewpub. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 TreinJan (178) Leiden, Netherlands | December 8, 2011 In Kleinbasel, on the "German" side of the Rhein. Nice restaurant and pub, good food at decent prices. You can get the beers on a tasting tablet to try. They are all good quality. The brewery is in the back and can be seen through a large window. Special editions are bottled and will be brewed at Brauerei Losser, just over the border in Germany. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 fonefan (29) VestJylland, Denmark | November 20, 2011 Visitet this place in november 2011. This is what I will call a real “Brauhause“ with wooden tables and beches. Traditional german style food and beers. The brewing plant is in the basement. We did eart there local smokde wurth with sauerkraut .. very tasty. They serve samples of the beers on tap. Friendly staff. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Ungstrup (345) Citizen of the universe, Denmark | October 28, 2011 Probably the most important place to go in Basel, since it is the only brewpub. 4 beers on tap and a seasonal bottled. Draft beer can be had in 10 cl. glasses. Very traditional decoration with huge light wooden tables sorounded with wooden benches and chairs on a stone floor. Service very helpful - even giving us advice where to go for beer elsewhere in town. We weren’t very hungry, so we just had a weisswurst, which was nice. |
