You walk into this pub and it strikes you as something very non-Japanese, tree stump seats and large rough tree tables polished until they shine. The bar staff were friendly and spoke English. They were launching the new seasonal íCountry Girl Kabochaí.
Got to meet head brewer Chris, and owner Bryan from the brewery.
Really nice place, would love to have it as a local. Also ask the other Chris (he works at the bar) about his hot sauce, it was really good, but the raw chilliís kicked my ass.

A ton of foreigners here which is a surprise, friendly, knowledgeable staff. 500 for a half & 800 yen for a pint. They have 150ml tasters, 3 for 800 yen which is a great deal. The whole core baird line up, plus 3 seasonals & 3 hand pumps (cask). I had a poí boy sandwhich for 800 yen. Tons of wood & brick, very cool, giant logs cross-sections make the table tops. Seating for 20 at those tables, 10 at the window bar, 5 at the bar & another half-dozen in a semi-private corner with a couch by the bar. I like that they have beer pairing suggestions on the food menu-cool stuff. You know youíre in a cool bar when the bartender with the funky greaser cut starts rockingí Only You on the karaoke machine - he had a fine voice too! The atmosphere was a cross between being at a small pub & a really chill party at your friendís place. Everyone was really chatty & friendly-I got to meet 2 of Bairdís brewers cool!

Nice local pub atmosphere, located conveniently nearby the small fish market and their original brewery. Service is quite friendly with a nice countryside vibe. They have all major Baird beers on tap and a few seasonals, at a slightly lower price than other Tokyo-area taprooms. Food was great, very tasty fresh fish and meat of the day on grill. Value is quite good overall, specially if you go for the 3 draft sampler set.

One of the few breweries in Japan with a full lineup of ales.
Returned after a 4 year absence. More taps for more great beers. Some flavors started to overlap a bit, but enough selection to have a couple nights out and still not repeat a beer.
Food is good, but more oriented towards light meals then dinner. Prices for craft beer pints are cheapest in country.
Nice staff, kid friendly (owner has 4 kids who were there when we visited).

Definitely hard to get to. Worth a trip, though. Best prices in Japan for like 16 of their beers on tap, in great condition. Good pub food. Great place to chill and try a lot of different great beers.

A real bitch to get to. Out in the boonies. This has a similar atmosphere to the nakameguro place, with similar decor, but a bit nicer, perhaps due to itís size (the NM place is just one large room). Good beer in good condition with very good prices for Japan (negated by the cost of the trip there). Worth a burl!

The original and still the best. Nice bar with plenty of room for groups of people. Obviously has the Baird lineup of beer, all in great condition. Thee handpumps but only one had anything on when I was there (maybe cause it was a Sunday?). Prices are much better there than Nakameguro especially if you buy the pint card (12 pints for the price of 10). Friendly staff and patrons. The food was mighty tasty, too. A great place to drink.

Located about 45 min south of Tokyo on the Bullet Train or about 2 hours on a regular train.
He holds quarterly festivals that are really cool.
Usually 5-8 beers on tap at anytime.
Prices are very good and if there is a group of you it is worth buying buy 12 pints for the price of 10 card.
About a 25min walk from Numazu station (straight up main street that starts at the station, then turn right when you get to the ocean and it is on your right hand side) or a 5 min cab ride.
They have English speaking staff and may be able to give a brewery tour if you phone ahead.
If you want to check out any microbrewery in Japan, this would probably be a good one to see.
