Nice little boozer a bit outside of the main drag. So many cask lines were out of action when I visited but still a decent choice. One or two interesting craft keg choices - I opted for a Black Iris sesh IPA - and a small but well-considered can/bottle choice. Worth a stop but not the destination it may have once been.

Visited on 21st May 2016. Large pub with music venue attached. Itís got an srray of photos of acts on the wall and a nice vibe to it. A great range of local beer on the bar including some keg options. Beer quality was excellent. Prices pretty good. Overall one of the best pubs Derby has to offer.

Spent almost every night at The Flower Pot during my week-long stays in Derby in 2014 and 2015 for the National Winter Ales Festival. This is a very friendly, cozy place with lots of great people to meet (made some friends there). Selection of real ales is excellent, especially during the beer festival. Canít really comment on the food, but locals told me I shouldnít bother (The Old Silk Mill, which offers excellent pub food, is just a few hundred meters away). Live music and other performances in an adjacent room, which adds to the atmosphere. Really great place in this really great real ale city!

What an experience I had in this so called pub. Walked in, stood like a lemming for nearly ten minutes and still no person behind the bar appeared. Asked the inebriated couple in front of me if anybody was serving, no response and a couple of glares. Walked out, never to return, canít comment about the quality of the ale as no one was there to administer it!

The Flower Pot is a traditional city pub and quite basic although apparently itís been spruced up in recent years and what could have been a rather grim yard has been made into a nice terrace with whitewashed walls and decking. Inside itís quite spacious - it goes back a long way and thereís a cosy library area at the rear; it also adjoins the brewery next door, which has seating as well and a large screen and music space. The beer list is extensive, with around 20 mainly local beers to choose from. (Visited 14 February 2015).

Visited february 2015 with beery friends. Larger city pub, within walking distance from the city center. Nice spacy pub, with a good range of beers. The beers are served in good condition, and with a smile from the friendly staff. This beery pub is for sure worth a visit. Think they from time to time make small festivals in the pub as well.

An excellent, busy, real ale pub at the edge of the city center, not far from the old Derby Cathedral. Several adjoining rooms; one with a mini beer festival at our visit, and another room for live concerts where Stan Webb and his Chicken Shack were playing British bluesrock. The mini beer festival was devoted to eight beers from the Black Iris Brewery that used to be on the premises in Derby, but has now moved to Nottingham. A new brewery, Frontier, has taken its place at the pub. In addition to the beers on gravity, there were eight operating hand-pumps serving ales from regional breweries. Black Sabbath music in the background. Hardworking but friendly staff. During a weekend in Derby we visited more than 10 great pubs, and we all agreed that this was the best of them. However, disgusting gents prevent the pub from a higher score (visited with Are, Dag Erik, Knut and Johnny 20.02. and 21.02.2015).

Not too far down the street from the Five Lamps the Flower Pot makes a good stopping off point for a trip into Derby. The selection of casks is usually fairly interesting and the prices are very fair (especially if you want to get a number of ticks as most half pints are under £1.50).

There is often music or some food special each night as well. I have yet to order food here but the menu looks to be basic pub fare. This is definitely worth a look while doing the rounds in Derby. If not then keep walking towards either the Furnace Inn or Old Silk Mill.
