(Visited 08/2012): This Flying Saucer location is in the North Loop of Austin on 47th Street. There is a parking garage and street parking in the surrounding area.
,br> The place has a big patio out front, and inside it is open with a winding bar in the rear and segmented rooms with table and couch seating. Lots of windows allow for people watching. Namesake saucers adorn the walls and there are star-shaped chandeliers and fans. Chalkboard behind the bar listing the beers.

Speaking of the beers, as with other locations there are over 70 taps with lots of local options like (512), Austin Beerworks, Deep Ellum and Real Ale. Other microbreweries are represented too. Lots of bottles too from breweries like Deschutes, Stone, Lagunitas and Green Flash. Some imports as well. Several different flights/samplers are offered included a Texas-specific one.

Service on a busy weekday was pretty good. The server was friendly and had a working knowledge of the beer offerings for the most part.

Food at Flying Saucer is usually decent, and the sandwich I had on this visit was pretty good.

Overall the chain aspect and big crowds kind of detract from this place but I found it suitable for a decent meal and trying a few Texas beers.

Im a sucker for these places! This is my 4th FS and i am really impressed by this one. lots of great taps mostly texas and imports however, they have a few rare ones from time to time. they have Boulevard Love Child #2 in bottles and im kicking myself that i didnt get it! Very friendly, attractive and knowledgeable waitresses doesnt hurt either! A must stop in Austin if you ask me.

Has only JUST o[pened, so will see what or if anything will change. As is, doesn’t seem quite as spacious as others I’ve visited, which did make it faal rather cramped as my kids and I grabbed the very last available table. And why do places have to BLAST THE MUSIC SO FUCKING LOUD?!?!? I may be old, but I’m not fucking deaf yet. Might be if I go to more places like this. Pretty sure it didn’t make the beer taste any better. Good selection as might be expected and that to equal most any place (in Texas).

I like this place, the bartender on duty was a really nice guy, he gave me a few samples without me even asking and we talked beer in between serving and offering suggestions to other customers .. typical saucer food, good of course .. the beer tasted great and i had a nice few hours.. up to the standard of the saucer!

I am not normally a fan of pub chains - they seem to be an excuse to demand disocunts from brewers who cannot really afford to give them. However I was really impressed by the FS chain on our flying visit. Good food, loads of beers, paying attention to local producers, giving drinkers a warm place to sit. This one hit the spot.

This is the 2nd Flying Saucer I’ve visited, and not surprisingly, it is pretty similar to the other one. They had a decent selection of local/area type of beers, much better then the Little Rock one in that regard, but that is more due to the lack of beer in Arkansas then any issue with this restaurant. It seemed like they had a decent set-up, it was fairly crowded but manageable. The staff seemed to be beer clue-less, but I went in expecting that.

Really unimpressive. A bar for yuppies and college kids with popped collars to pretend that they have good taste because they drink overpriced pints of imported beer. Staff has little to no beer knowledge. Huge selection of beers, but nothing that can’t be acquired elsewhere.

Not too much to say about this place, other than it is pretty much like all the other Flying Saucer locations I have been to. That is not a bad thing, since they have 80+ beers on tap plus a ton in bottles. Food is decent, but this place is all about the beer. This is located within five minutes of Black Star and Draught House, and only a little further from North by Northwest.

Nice outdoorsy patio, nice selection and decently priced.

I can’t believe I’ve been to 5 FS’s! Ugh. That said, this one is pretty good. The location is far enough from downtown to attract a mostly yuppy crowd. The outdoor seating here is tits, perfect to enjoy a lazy weekday evening in "the triangle". I always give them a "10/15" on selection because I have to remember to think of 3 beers I want for them to have 1 in stock. Service OK.
