Decent selection for Texas. Not as nice as the Addison Saucer. Servers were not very knowledgeable Ė when asked about SA Elissa on cask, waitress replied that she didnít understand. Come on, this is Houston Ė Saint Arnold is brewed here, the web site said they had it, but they didnít. Web site also said they had Avery Maharaja on tap Ė they didnít. Not a bad place overall, but a bit of a disappointment considering how hard it is to get to Ė downtown Houston and all.
Great beer selection...even though you could go down the street to Specís and get stuff for half the price if you donít want it right then. Service is iffy...and food it typical of the bar scene, but hell, Iím there for the beer. They do care about beer and the little hotties working the bar are knowledgeable about the beers for the most part. They also host beer tasting events which is always good in my book. If youíre into the downtown party scene itís near all that, as well as several, several blocks away from the baseball and basketball stadiums.
I stopped in here on my trip to Houston, and was pleased with the selection and food, but not too impressed with the ambiance or service. Even early on a weeknight it was pretty packed, and the servers were fairly overwhelmed. The pizza I had there was very good, better than I expected, and the beer selection was excellent. A place that I would visit during off-hours for the beer selection, but one that I would avoid the rest of the time.
The best thing about this place is the beer selection. A butt-load of beers on tap. However, the drawbacks keep me from going back. The waitresses are RUDE and clueless, prices are expensive, and it can get pretty crowded in there, which makes the service even worse than it already is. Other than that, it is a great place, but not for me.
My experiences here are from 3 visits in about a yearís time. The last time I was there was Spring of 2006.
cool place, good looking waitresses, bartender knew his stuff and the food was alright too. great selection and hey thats all that matters right?

Great bar to sit and have a few beers that you havenít seen before. The Monday I went was $2.50 pint night and that was a good thing. Most of the beers seemed fresh, despite the number of taps. They seemed to be serving a very large number of patrons for a Monday. Food was so-so. Didnít see any cigars. Parrk in the pay lot directly across the street. Unless youíre drinking during business hours, it shouldnít be a problem
Very impressed to find such a place in Houston. Great beer selection with tonnes of taps on the back wall of the bar. Belgian beers are ridiculously expensive in the States, but no need to drink them here with so many great American beers to sample. Very impressed that the waitress knew so quickly and off the top of her head what the Seasonal ale was with so many beers to remember.
Great selection of beers - one of the best in Houston. Be careful though - some are pretty pricey. Also, theyíre strictly beers - no girly drinks (zima, sky Blue, schmirnoff ice, etc). My g/f doesnít like beer so that was a problem, BUT she found some peach flavored belgian beers she liked...unfortunately they were $12 a bottle and we didnít know till we checked out.
Over all it is one of the best places in Houston to get beer. The food could use some work for the price of it. The beer selection is amazing and they have a pretty damn cool staff. The beer is fresh and the taps are clean!!!!!!!(not always the case in H-Town) Lots of space here and itís usually pretty easy to get a table or sit at the bar. They always have a least one or two good specials going as well.
