74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Moutstainz (6) , | April 9, 2013 Stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon. Service was a little slow, but the bartender knew her stuff. Did not eat so no judgement there.
There is really nothing that sticks out as bad about this place, however it is a bit "corporate-ish" for my taste. I prefer my bar personality to ooze and refine itself with age, not to be packaged and handed to me.
That said, the selection was good and featured many local offerings. The menu was laid out differently as it did not have separate listings for bottle vs. draft. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 13/20 fluffheady (46) Chicago, Illinois | April 9, 2013 There is nothing wrong with this place. It is just not my style. They have a lot of taps. It is much more Belgian and German focused than most chains. The menu is horrible - other people have said so too because the draft and bottle list are intermingled. Crazy confusing to read and sort through. The staff surprisingly knew their beer very well. I hear their events are cool. This place feels like a factory, but it’s the best sort of downtown beer factory that I’ve been to. If you want to see the real beer scene of KC, head down to Westport. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 Strebs (104) St. Louis, Missouri | November 21, 2012| Updated November 30, 2012 Regular taps are OK to good. Limited number of esoteric beers are brought in. The bartenders can be nice, but they have no beer knowledge. Food is OK. All that being said, it’s the best Flying Saucer that I’ve been to. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 arkurzynski (72) West Bend, Wisconsin | October 21, 2012| Updated November 30, 2012 Nice brewpub atmosphere. Quite expansive setup with plenty of tables, pub tables booths and a long bar. Great selection of beers is an understatement. Plenty of local Boulevard, Schlafly, etc. Variety of brews from other states. Nice bottle selection. Taps reasonably priced, bottles a bit pricey. Service good and food decent. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 JoeinEscazú (268) San Jose, Costa Rica | August 27, 2012| Updated November 30, 2012 If I had just stumbled in here randomly, I wouldn’t have guessed it was part of a chain. Big open place with a friendly neighborhood vibe despite being in the nice-but-sterile Power and Light district. Loads of taps and bottles with enough to interest anyone, I would think. They do seem to showcase the local and regional craft beers of each particular location, so good for them. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (314) Cincinnati, Ohio | August 6, 2012| Updated November 30, 2012 Visited here on a Saturday night while spending the weekend in KC. It’s on the edge of the Power and Light District downtown. The inside is like any other Flying Saucer, which isn’t a bad thing. It was crowded but not as cramped as other P&L places appeared to be. We sat on the sidewalk patio, which was more relaxing. The waitress really knew her shit, rattling off all the rotators from memory. Those were the real winners, too; the set beer list was almost identical to the other FS locations I’ve been. I got the brand new Blvd Collaboration 3, the Stingo, which isn’t out in bottles yet in MO. That was a nice find. Definitely worth a visit while in KC. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 seymour (44) Saint Louis, Missouri | July 16, 2012 I guess it’s a chain but it’s the first time I’ve seen one. Cool upscale decor, lots of space. Killer beer list! I’ve only been a couple places with more taps, but this one might be the most diverse and rare lineup. I’ve been looking for Duvel Single and it blew my mind. Servers were cute but pissy. They didn’t know much, but someone behind the scenes must be a beer expert because they always came back with a good answer later. With decent food and trendy beer cocktails as well, it’s still accessible to non-beer-nerds. My Bud-Light-buddies got a pitcher of Reissdork Kolsch which they loved. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 12/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | June 30, 2012 Large chain style pub/restaurant with a ton of taps. List is confusing, since the tap list and bottle list were intermingled. I would have liked to see a draft list. Food was pub grub, service quick and efficient. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 19/20 bkisida (5) Arkansas | May 17, 2012 Love this place. Good atmosphere. Laid back and busy all at once. Cool location downtown. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 20/20 rumproasts (63) Grand Rapids, Michigan | May 3, 2012 ridiculous number of taps, and even more bottles. bordering on overwhelming. it took forever to figure out what beers i should try. i can’t imagine someone couldn’t find something to suit them. food was quite good as well. |
