Huge place that feels more like a restaurant than bar/brewpub at first since the bar area is hidden in the back beyond dinner tables and booths. The big knock for me is that the tap list stays fairly stale: they’ll have a seasonal or two and all of their year-round stuff. The seasonals are all things you can get in the area. Other than the Sexual Chocolate release, I’ve yet to see a brewpub only release. With that in mind, I guess I haven’t seen a reason to visit Foothills when I know I’ll bump into any of the beers they’re pouring in any other bar in Winston-Salem.--- Updating this and bumping it up a few points after another visit. They had some more unique offerings on tap and said they were making more of an effort to have more special offerings at the brewpub. Here’s hoping this trend continues!

finally made it here. walked in the front door to a huge open dining room. notice and upstairs but was informed it was for private partys. several table outside on nice days or night and for smokers. the bar area was big and woody, lots of wood throughout. bartenders melane and Stephanie were great. got the sampler 11 4oz beers for $12.99 all pretty solid except one. the food we had ostrich burger and fish and chips were both very good. overall very good experience. you can buy and refill growlers and you can even buy some bomber very reasonable.

Large two-story establishment. Very beautiful logo on plaster over brick as you enter and artfully done label posters throughout the place. They had a live band playing, but the place if big enough that you can get away from the too-loud band and still have a conversation if you wish. The bar was a little crowded, even though the rest of the restaurant was busy, but not packed. The beer was good but I didn’t try the food.

Stopped into the brewpub for a few beers while visiting Winston-Salem. The bar had a nice, modern ambiance, with an open floor-plan and ample seating. The service was very friendly and attentive, and kindly provided some free samples to help make decisions. They have a very good beer selection, with many of their own beers on tap, along with a good range of bottles (to go as well) and other beers. The beers are fairly priced. I did not try the food. Very nice brewpub, would visit again.

Large place, we ate at the bar. Food was good - felt a bit like a box restaurant like an Applebee’s somehow, but my wife’s chicken was competent, and my brats were fine. A very large tap selection of their outstanding beers available. Well worth the stop.

The ambiance here leaves some to be desired. Its like they cant decide what they want to be today. A restaurant, a sports bar, or a beer pub. They cant do it all! Luckily they do have some very good beer. Service is fair, food is average. Still a good place to go. Ketchup is awesome!

Large place with a large bar running about half its length. Lots of folks were here mainly to eat, and the food going by looked very tasty, especially the pizza. We shared a very tasty app. Huge range of beers included a few of their standard offerings, but the highlight were the seasonals, which included two black IPAs. I have a soft spot for black IPA. I wish the server had explained how the flights worked, but everything worked out in the end. A must-stop while in W-S.

Attractive building with a separate restaurant/mezzanine and bar with view of the original brewing area. Very knowledgable and friendly bartenders/waitstaff with a decent selection of beers on tap and diverse menu items. Food is usually good with a few entrees being hit or miss, (yet they offer one of my favorite chips and salsas out there). Value is decent for both food and drink and I am happy to say that I am a regular here!

Located in downtown Winston-Salem, not far from City Beverage. I didn’t see a parking lot but I had no trouble finding a spot on the street a block away. Big interior with high ceilings and lot of exposed brick with a large bar in the back along the left side. They had 8-10 on tap with a couple that were unique to the bar. Nothing was extraordinary or outstanding on my visit but it was solid. I might go back if in the area.

Prime location in downtown Winston-Salem, though there is nothing else to do in the town. Inside is a cavernous, dark wood interior. Large tables. Laminated, large plate menu with upgraded Applebee’s style kitchen. House beers on draft only. They have above average beers, and famous for their Sexual Chocolate imperial stout, which is actually not very good and not worth waiting in line for. Have been to Pre-Sex and Sexual Chocolate release in 2009 and 2010. Fun times with the RateBeer/BeerAdvocate crew late at night and then in line the next day at 5am. The main problem is the amount of people that skip in line. As only the first 200 people get beer, we arrived as 80th in line at 5am, and by the time they handed out wristbands, we were 175th in line, which is absolutely insane. Service is decent, beers are pretty good. But overall the event is not worth the trek to this isolated city. Might be worth a stop in while driving through to Asheville or something, but do not plan a trip here simply for Sexual Chocolate or their other beers. That beer is not even in the Top 100 FOR STYLE.
