We came here 3.10.2016. This brewery was founded 1930 by Gottfried Jakob who had the goal to research different beer types and filed many beer patents. The brewhouse (tiled) is located on the second floor and visible from the outside. Inside, the pub is a bit over-decorated. They have 6 beers on tap, typical Bavarian styles including a Bock with 8.2% alcohol. We tried the Helles, Export and the Bock, all were ’ok’, nothings special and a bit too sweet for our taste. This location is off the beaten tourist path and hence more authentic than the inner circal restaurants in Munich.

Visited 22 aug 2016 Nice stylish brewpub with necessary biergarten. Six taps, great beers for Munich area. A bit expensive, as everywhere in Bavaria. Service is OK, but they don’t serve beers in smaller glasses than 0.5l.
Visited on the sunny evening of 16/07/12.
Located 15 minutes or so from the city centre, take the S1 line (towards Kreuzstrasse) to Perlach, then a few minutes walk.
Tumbledown old bar with a decent sized beer garden out front.
Beers were all solid, particularly the bock.
Only down point was the service, woefully slow despite only 3 tables of locals inhabitting the beer garden. We needed to be in and out in 45 minutes to get to the next venue and we ended up running for the train.
Overall worth the detour.

Classic interior, a bit oldish style, but cosy. Good English spoken, and the waiter is very helpful. Relaxed, countryside, off the center. The beers are some of the best in Munich area! 1L growlers of the beers are available (cheap); but the bottled beer is less good.
I really did not care much for this place. When I was there, it was quite sunny and hot, yet the large umbrellas on the terrace remained closed. There are no trees there, so guests had to sit in the hot sun.
Service was quite poor. Although there were several waitresses on duty and the terraces was mostly emtpy, we had to flag down waitresses to get service.
I was there with a friend who speaks very little German. While I was away, he tried to ask the waitress for the check, but she understood it as he wanted another beer. Nevertheless, when I (I speak German) asked for the check, she included the beer she thought my friend had ordered, but she never brought!
I had the Dunkeles. I didn’t think it was very good. My friend had the pils, which we both thought was better.
All things considered, I cannot recommend it and would probably not go back. There are plenty of excellent real beer gardens in Munich, so there’s no reason to go out to the suburbs for a mediocre one.
