Great ambiance. Obscenely good beer! some good sandwhiches and snacks. Peanuts are the main food. Great bands play here occasionally. Very professional bar staff who know their stuff. Lots of guys who want to wax eloquent about beer. Kind of cliquey but who cares. Best beer In Grand Rapids.

Favorite brewery thus far. Huge bar, lots of great beers on tap. Superb sandwiches. Big windows and lots of seating. Nitrogen beers on tap as well. Tried all of the beers on tap, all of them were good, most of them were great, 2-3 superb.

Perhaps this was because we got the "special treatment" but I canít imagine a brewery experience that would be better. We arranged ahead of time on our beer tour and Founder Dave Engbers gave us a personal tour of the brewery and then sat with us for a good hour or so after with us, drinking and talking the buisness. It was very generous of him and very, very cool. The beer was spectacular. Everything we had was even better on tap than it has been in the bottle when Iíve had it before. Unfortunately they had run out of the Canadian Breakfast a few days before, but the Kentucky Breakfast was superb. The Maple Brown was one of the best beers Iíve ever had - no joke. It was definitely the highlight of our 3-day trip.

Nice place with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Garage doors separating outdoor picnic seating area for smokers and outdoorsy types from the large indoor seating area. Cheap snacks, appetizers, and sandwiches available. I didnít try the food, so it could be great! Nice selection of beers that are not obtainable outside this venue. 10 or 11 taps available if I remember correctly. The renowned KBS available on tap as well as some other specialty ales: CBS and BBA Imperial Stout with others. Large glass window separates the brew cafe from the brew equipment with a sort of stage area and curtains to cover for live music which appears regularly from the posters up on the walls. A single pool table, clean bathrooms. Weekday specials available. I like it here. Would visit again.

Stopped in on my way up North and couldnít be more pleased with the place. If there were a brewery like this every 50 or so miles across the country, we could end our reliance on antidepressants, fix the economy and possibly have world peace. The place is a modern looking factory type setting with tall ceilings and lots of light and air coming in through the open patio doors. Service was delightful and selection was truely impressive. I canít wait to get back.

Visited for dinner on 06/06/09. The second stop of three during a trip to some of the Midwestís most essential breweries. Located in downtown Grand Rapids, Founders might be my favorite brewery at the moment. The taplist was incredible. I sipped on Canadian Breakfast Stout, Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, KBS, and Barrel Aged Redís Rye. They were all amazing. My wife enjoyed her Oatmeal Stout and loved the Cerise. The food was good (some beer cheese dip and a veggie sandwich), and the atmosphere was comfortable. The bar is huge, and thereís plenty of seating both indoors and outside. There was steady stream of locals stopping in to get their growlers filled. Take out bottles are refrigerated and decently priced. Thereís also live music nearly every night of the week. Founders is a phenomenal brewery, and their taproom accentuates their craftsmanship. Grand Rapids was a great city to stay the night, and since itís only 45 minutes north of Kalamazoo (Bellís) itís an ideal weekend getaway for beer enthusiasts. Simply put, Founders is a must.

Iíve been wanting to go to the new place for a while now and it is nice. Very long bar and restaurant area with a nice view of the brewing facilities. They have widescreens to show local sports and have some outdoor seating as well. I only noticed their own beers on tap which isnít a bad thing since they brew some fine stuff. On a friday night we had to wait a while for the waitress to come to our table and then it took her a little while to come back but otherwise she was pleasant. We did not eat on here on this occasion. I enjoyed their KBS stout in a snifter that was at the proper temperature. Very tasty brew.
One of the guys from the brewery area was kind enough to give us a quick tour even though it was late at night and I think he wanted to go home. Great facilities! I live in the area and plan to go back soon. It is walking distance from Hopcat (also highly rated) so for a nice night of better beer, I suggest visit both.

Great place to come and hang out and get great value on great beers. In warm weather the patio is great to be on and there is smoking outside for those that do.
Tends to get a little loud in the afternoon and after work gets out. Plenty of live music if thatís your thing. If you come to Grand Rapids and donít visit Founders youíve missed out.

Visited this brewery several times during a stay in Grand Rapids. I really enjoyed the brewpub at this place. Came on a Friday and Saturday night and the place was pretty much packed - maybe 200 people or so. A large room, approximately 35í x 120í. German style beer hall with high ceilings and a long bar. Noisy and full of beer lovers, lots of staff so you didnít have to wait long. Had about 14 beers on tap, many unusual ones that are not bottled. Had an appetizer which was good. This is apparently a new location, according to my friend. I liked everything about it and the prices were pretty fair too. Compared to the usual places available to have a beer I felt this was outstanding. I wish we had something comparable in Iowa.
