Fantastic cheese shop in Atwater market. Always love the funky aromas stepping inside these shops! Down the stairs is where they stock the beers on shelves and small fridge selection. The more common stuff from Unibroue but also decent stuff from Trou du Diable and Pit-Caribou. A fun place to browse and shop.
2015-02-15. A large cheese shop in the market it has a smallish room dedicated to beer. I say smallish because it is a bit larger than I had expected based on the other descriptions (Probably 10-12 feet square?). They had a pretty decent selection of Quebec beers on offer including Unibroue, Le Castor, Trois Mousquetaires and a number of others. We picked up some bottles from Le Castor, Trois Mousquetaires and a brand new brew from Pit Caribou. Relatively close to the Metro station compared to some other bottle shops in town. Worth making a trip out to visit the market and the SAQ across the street if you have the time. We had some cheese already from another shop otherwise we likely would have grabbed some as well.
In this large cheese shop near the cash register you will find a few steps leading down into a cave like trove of beery goodness. Friendly staff/customers who liked talking beer plus the best selection in this part of town. Not the most obvious place for good beer, my brother who lives a 10-minute walk away had no idea this place existed!
in a small room in the midst of a larger cheese shop sits many quebec craft beers;while not the selection of peluso it is equal to other stores i have been to in montreal.
service is very good and knowledgeable from the person i talked beer with,to another person i talked cheese with,to the cashier.
in the best of all worlds, this place would be in jean-talon market!
Made a visit to acquire copious quantities of fresh Quebecois chevre and discovered a pleasant selection of Quebec beers. New to me were a number of the Canadian guezes (albeit not well reviewed) that I had not seen elsewhere. Otherwise the selection was similar to other well reviewed shops around town, but shy of Peluso, for sure.
In the middle of a beautiful market. Dude sees me standing there with a list in my hand looking confused, and proceeds to find me 10 of the beers for which I am looking. His own recommendations, of which there were two, were not as good, however. Good prices, very friendly and helpful, and the selection, while far from the best in the city, is decent.
Another good beer/grocery in Montreal. On the way to the highway though a bit aways from core downtown Montreal. Nice atmsphere in this market, paid parking. No service, beers are organized by brewer with newer and more desireable offerings in the middle. Much choice, not everything here which is a plus and a minus. A worker carried the boxes to our car so that service contribution is noteable.
